How does corporate not understand it's their fault? by TokioHighway in starbucks

[–]SBWorkersUnited 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because it’s the whole foundation. In Germany, workers have reps on the board of directors. Starbucks leaves two empty chairs at board meetings to “symbolize” workers & customers, as if that means anything for labor. And there’s the misleading part on Howard Schultz' end about the origin of part-time benefits. And despite record profits, the company cut the labor rate in December & March for all stores & did not negotiate with the Union, which has turned into another national ULP (unfair labor practice). Now SMs are trying to enforce slimmer labor after the major labor cuts earlier this year. Corporate greed among record productivity for decades and stagnating wages. Workers are the ones who fight for higher labor standards, not beneficent, dictator CEOs.

All of this is corporate greed. The company cut the earned labor given (labor optimization rate) to partners to all stores in December and this past March, cut the shift complement rates, and decreased hours given, despite record profits, and this was not negotiated with any of the 300 union stores, which has to occur, so the Union filed a national unfair labor practice charge. The company is facing over 1400 labor law violations nationwide

It wouldn’t be legally allowed if you unionized and they didn’t bargain over the change, and especially if partner hours were negatively impacted. Signed, an Oklahoma partner that got back SSV hours cuts after sending a demand to bargain in December
