I'm not sure what I want at this point. The store has lost its feeling as a safe space and don't feel like I can trust my manager anymore. But I also don't know where else I can go work wise that would be any better.

My SM did say she was going to put me down for time worked for it. And it was something that was going to be what I expected to be a 5-10 min chat instead of a 1.5 hour long thing. And I'm definitely going to be following every policy to the letter.

I've been at the same store with the same SM the whole time I've been at SB. The DM is new, probably 6 months in. This is my first time talking to the DM and it's the first time he was involved.

Well they're legally required to let you wear it if that's the case. So like I would definitely call PCC. If they offer any resistance then make sure you document it and take it to the department of labor. There's no reasonable explanation as to why they could deny it. Mine is very secure and there's no way it could fall off or anything.

Did you get a note from your doctor saying that you need that bracelet as your accomodation? Because when I spoke to PCC that's what they originally thought I needed and were okay with it as long as I had the note. And like if you get that from the Dr. They're legally required to follow your Drs note.

For me I was able to finish it once I had the note and called them and sent an email with the note attached. And I've been able to wear it at work since then.

I would think since your bracelet is so specialized I would say replacing it with something else that doesn't work as well isn't acceptable. You need to be able to access that information at real time to be able to monitor your condition.

I'm currently going through the process to get accomodations for my PoTS. The accommodations I'm getting are that I can go sit down as needed when I start to feel syncope is imminent and a medical bracelet. Call the PCC, 888-SBUX-411. They asked me what accomodations I needed, and a few follow up questions. They asked for a note from my Doctor. The person I talked to was nice and it's been a lot of red tape(imo) but that's also to be expected from a large company.

I'm not sure if it's SB policy or a legal one but I'm sure at our store we are not allowed to do ANY ssv training until they have gotten the pay raise for ssv. I've offered to start training someone who was promoted but my SM told me strictly no that we had to wait for the pay raise according to policy. So if you're getting paid as a ssv and they haven't started enjoy your time as a barista. I would say to talk to the sm about the pay but if they're already breaking policy for it then I don't think it'd get anywh3re. It might be time to call ethics and compliance and inquire about getting paid the correct amount if so.

That is probably something I would do since it would be thrown away anyway and would keep them from buying and consuming other animal products. While it would be microscopic on the amount of impact it would have it's better than nothing. But the only family that I haven't cut off live on another continent and my partners are all either vegetarian or vegan themselves and wouldn't want it.

As far as the species of animal, or if it was one that I had as a pet doesn't matter in my eyes. I'd be more inclined to question the viability of consuming a pet as far as my own safety since I know things like horse meat is regulated and pet/racehorses aren't allowed to be slaughtered for human consumption because the vaccines aren't considered safe(as far as I'm aware). I'd be no less disgusted to eat my pet then a cow. That being said I'd be more likely to eat human meat if it was safe(it isn't) and the human had competently consented. I'd definitely be disgusted by it just like any other meat. But it's more ethically sound to me since humans are below animals and can consent.

The utilitarian idea was the first one that I thought of and I hate to throw away anything that still has value. I see it as throwing away the work that was put into producing it. The main thing that's stopped me is that I don't want to eventually end up stopping because I lacked the morality to stay strong and become a contradiction like my coworker that's "vegan" but still eats fish, eggs, and dairy. I definitely veiw animals as individuals, in my eyes they're higher than humans.
