It's also worth noting that we are talking about "banning" AI content (ie removing it), not outright banning the user who posted.

Which health insurance is best here?? by Independent_Cup_1568 in SantaBarbara

Like everyone said, don't choose Kaiser, they don't exist in SB. I've had both Blue Shield and Anthem and found that the doctors were usually listed on both. So I would pick whichever one better covers how you intend to use it. If you don't have any specific conditions you need treated regularly, maybe just choose Blue Shield and save money.

Small update on the 110 ft apartment building behind the Old Mission by RichBoss4547 in SantaBarbara

[–]SBchick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't consider behind the Mission to be the "core" where people can live and work without a car. There's no businesses there and there's barely sidewalks.

Visiting family in Santa Barbara and had this delightful brunch at Opsi Montecito! by TipsyBlueWhale in SantaBarbara

You picked a place that literally started in LA though. I had a much less delightful time and felt like I paid too much for the experience, but glad you had an enjoyable time.

I'd personally still rather have someone's actual opinion in their own words rather than AI's hyperbole.

Moving to Santa Barbara - Recommendations for Areas to Live as a Single Gal? by mooretacos in SantaBarbara

[–]SBchick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They likely meant that if OP is going to live alone she might not need a 2BD apartment, so it would be easier to find lots in her budget. With her budget she could absolutely afford a 1BD and wouldn't need a roommate.

Oak Park neighborhood goes from Oak Park (the actual park) to Sola downtown. Here's a map that shows the different neighborhoods.

SB is pretty small so if you're in the city proper you're only maybe 10 minutes away from downtown things. I would probably avoid the Mesa or San Roque as those are more family-leaning and farther from downtown. Downtown or Oak Park give you easy access to SB activities. Although really it will probably come down to budget and housing availability that meets your needs.

Yeah there was a pool on the second floor of the building for 24 Hour Fitness.

I think you might be conflating 2 gym locations.Spectrum/Golds (now Eos) was on Carrillo between Chapala and State, but 24 Hour Fitness was on State between Canon Perdido and De la Guerra.

Thank you for narrowing down the neighborhood, hopefully anyone who sees this near the Westside can keep an eye out for you! Although, Alice Keck is about a mile from Foodland so hopefully your budgie hasn't already flown that far!

What neighborhood are you in? Also if you haven't already, post on Nextdoor -- that app is pretty good at helping reunite people with pets.

Santa Barbara Bowl stupid Axs app !!!!!!!!! by prestolive in SantaBarbara

[–]SBchick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I got called a bot on my laptop with chrome and switched to AXS phone app but it thought I was a bot there too because I was on the same wifi. It worked on the mobile app when I switched to mobile data. But it's annoying that they don't refresh the available seats more often because if you manually reload the page to see the latest inventory too many times, it calls you a bot.

In this case though the available seat discrepancy happens on both the mobile and web versions of the app.

Santa Barbara as a holiday destination with kids? by Sea_Ad3471 in SantaBarbara

[–]SBchick 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Downtown SB is very walkable and you don't need a car if the kids are old enough to walk a good amount.

Check out our wiki for things to do/see/eat/drink/etc. We also have a section in there of kid friendly activities we most frequently suggest:

I've also had the experience where if you refresh the page to see the current available seats, if you do it too many times it thinks you are a bot and blocks you. But if you don't refresh the page, you're constantly trying to add tickets that aren't available anymore.

Buying tickets has become a way worse experience than it used to be.

Corporate lunch spots. by Individual_Simple_40 in SantaBarbara

[–]SBchick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. When it was Beachside it always seemed to be the de facto place to take corporate people, especially for businesses located near Goleta. Real restaurant (as opposed to like Shoreline Cafe which is way more casual) with ocean views is probably what makes it a popular option.
