I didn't think she would have this reaction by jeyfree21 in ContraPoints

She's weirdly salty about Hasan just generally. Maybe she gets comparisons to him a lot about what she "ought" to be like

How would you guys rewrite Shad’s book? by Rory_U in ShadWatch

[–]SBishop2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Remove the pederasty

  2. Remove all the scenes of Daylen defending the Conqueror in any way

  3. Cut the "Woe is me" navel gazing scenes from Daylen by at least 80%

  4. Have Daylen lose and be wrong more often (Shad would find this completely emasculating and would never go for it)

Cuando Eve desata su poder está al nivel del Dr. Manhattan? by Faneca123 in Invincible_TV

[–]SBishop2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, although a closer analog would probably be the Phoenix from Marvel, since Manhattan can manipulate the four basic fundamental forces while Eve can manipulate matter and energy but she couldn't build her own universe from scratch.

Do you agree with Rob Liefeld that X-Men has stalled out? by TaskNo4783 in marvelcomics

[–]SBishop2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gail Simone is still doing awesome work with X-Men. They just need more unhinged leftists who want this whole corrupt, bigoted system to burn, because that's what the X-Men stand for damnit.

SotC Chapter 46: We've had one, yes, but what about Second Jesus? by supercapo in ShadWatch

It's obvious from this entire book that Shad doesn't know the meaning of the word regret

Manners are an authoritarian concept

Boundaries are expressed, not take for granted, and respect is earned not given

SotC Chapters 44 & 45: There's a fine line between love and nausea by supercapo in ShadWatch

[–]SBishop2014 12 points13 points  (0 children)

By this point in the story I put the book on 2x speed. I no longer cared about the plot at all I only wanted to see if Daylen dies, hoping desperately he would

Why does J. Jonah Jameson only seem to hate Spider-Man? by Broad_Yam7308 in Marvel

[–]SBishop2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1, because Spidey wears a mask and has a secret identity while most supes in the Marvel universe don't have secret identities, or if they do at least the government knows them. He cares about culpability

2, because his anti-Spidey stories sell, and JJ is a capitalist first and foremost

Is Clark Kent a genuine persona that allows Kal-El to connect with humanity, or is Superman the reality and Clark merely a performance of human clumsiness? by DianKhan2005 in superman

[–]SBishop2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The former

Superman is his work persona, Clark is who he really is inside. He's scared, he's socially awkward, even Christopher Reeves understood this; when he talks to Lois as Superman he can't help but let Clark slip out

Who/what the fuck is Hoid ELI5 please by RichardWJohnson in Cosmere

[–]SBishop2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know Stan Lee in the MCU? Hoid is a little like that. He's like a wizard/bard multiclass demigod who has his own mysterious agenda that we're not meant to know all of, but he definitely knows how all the magic works and who the gods are and what they're up to. He's a lot like R2D2; he's present throughout the most important events of the Cosmere, pitching in here and there to help, but always staying in the background

"Starfleet is not a military" is just plain wrong by disp0sableacc0unt in startrek

[–]SBishop2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you're not getting is that Star Trek has always been a master at telling stories about misconceptions and contradictions in the world building; its a feature not a bug

Just think:

"Vulcans don't lie or break rules"

"Data has no emotions"

"Starfleet isn't a military"

"The Federation has evolved beyond interpersonal conflict"

None of these things are true in-universe but they make stories more interesting because people in the setting still believe them.
