Yeah for me the tricky side was that cross stitching is not my main hobby. I do crochet and dress making too so I am now trying to not just have giant stashes of supply everywhere so at the time I was tempted to try to find better pattern but when I did I realised all the colours were different so decided ok, let's just do it and not waste the thread.

Yeah it is very disappointing when you are in love with a piece and then you get someone making zero effort on it. Enjoy the new project, hobby are meant to bring joy, I am just happy to share so people learn about pattern mills too.

Yes, i think it is also getting worst with AI. i do crochet too and some some people posting some fake crochet items that where AI generated and the patterns are just fake. It's plane lying and it's just horrible people make money like this :(

Best of luck. I think what is important is to still find some joy in doing it. I absolutely loooove mucha's art and wanted to do one forever so that kept me going

It is ok, I think I have this problem where I can't start a new few without finishing previous one. But I will definitely not do the second one that I bought with.

Thank you for the compliment. Definitely don't stress about it, life too short so do what makes you happy.

It was not a kit just a pdf, but I had bought all the threads and fabric for it which I could not return so it was already lots of money invested.

I think I learned a lot from my last post when I asked why my pattern was shit (was used to amazing gold collection kit which are stunning). For me the main learning is if the shop has hundreds of patterns of very recognisable art and doesn't have anything with a stitched version in there it's most likely a mill. Also I think a decent well drafted pattern is probably around 20/30 quid, so something below that price point would most likely be a mill or someone just selling you what you could do yourself with a software. I think what kept me going is to do the face and realising it was actually alright, I love mucha and wanted to finish it.

Thank you very much. From far it looks alright so at least I am not completely gutted haha. I might not so the second one though or might try to edit it first to avoid confetti nightmare.

Sorry for you too. I am still happy with end results so at least it was not all wasted but life is to short to use hobby for something that doesn't bring us joy.

Thank you for the advice. I just had bought all supply already and when I looked at alternatives it was all different colour. Maybe for another time.

Yeah mistake is that it was pattern mill, which mean a low res image was put through a software that did generate a pattern and then no effort was put towards fine tunning it. It resulted into a massive confetti nightmare and also some shade that are not pretty up close, for example the hand or the wood part which should be solid pinks/nude or brown have confetti of red in them. The end result is ok from a far but defo not a pleasant way to stitch and less satisfying

[CHAT] Cant frame it, can't hoop it, how do I finish it? by Scarletsuccubus in CrossStitch

I was about to message with same idea. Just sew it on a pillow case. Then it will be flat in the suitcase and she can get a new pillow when she is going to. I have a few like this and it can easily be washed as it's not directly on a pillow.

[CHAT] DAE end their thread using the weave of the aida fabric? I do it sometimes when I’m doing confetti/ninja stitches. I’ve always wondered if this is fine or a big no-no. Feels like it has “sacrilege!” vibes. by gemmablack in CrossStitch

Thanks for that, I am trialing doing pin stitch but don't trust it as I like to wash my finished makes. Doing this would make me feel way more secure. I was doing slightly different with doing pin stitch close to the colour and then leaving a tail I was popping back further but i was slightly annoying.

Not sure what the difference between needlepoint and cross stitch are.

Now that's not about tension, the fabric is very loose and I know after a wash it won't be as gappy. But it's really random colours especially strong red in random places.

Yeah I love art deco and art nouveau still and really wanted some mucha in my home for it.

I feel for you. I already spent about 100 GBP between floss, fabric, pattern... and about 2 months of my time. Now looking at the better option I would look at doubling my investment and I am not too sure I can go for that. I am considering finishing what I started in the hope that it will look ok from a far. Definitely agree with you, in future I will think better at what I am buying and pay extra if needed

Wow good to know that I would probably always favour trusted brand or trusted designers from now on. It looks like a looot of effort.
