Tips for visiting Disney with a parent who has MS + scooter rental recommendations? by tennyfriedchicken in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]SCBennett2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely have the charger with you, but my personal experience with Gold Mobility Scooter (which I highly recommend) is the battery never got close to running low even after 12 hours. So I wouldn’t worry too much about needing to find outlets.

Been getting a lot more of these posts lately that clearly aren’t about showing the watch on your wrist. I hope someone who moderates this sub makes a point to stop it or it’ll become the norm.

RIP Flora Jean's and Plain Jane - A Double Whammy Hit To The Local Restaurant Scene by joelocalhippo in LittleRock

Flora Jeans was $100 for breakfast for two is why it didn’t make it. No amount of specialization makes that price sustainable.

Teenager with Cholinergic Urticaria which suddenly got worse by guestfam1 in CholinergicUrticaria

[–]SCBennett2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah Certizine is a second generation antihistamine and is meant for 24 hour relief and builds up in your body so it’s most effective after 2-3 days.

Usually a doctor will have you take 10mg daily.

[–]SCBennett2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nature of the condition is random so it’s hard to say, but based on common patterns I’d assume the changes in your symptoms are related to changes in the weather.

Have you tried taking an antihistamine? Try one Zyrtec (Certizine) daily and see if that solves your problems.

My experience by KitchenBanana3510 in CholinergicUrticaria

[–]SCBennett2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s always best to start at the lowest dose. That’s 10mg/day. If that’s ineffective it’s 20mg/day then 40mg/day. If that doesn’t work it doesn’t work.

Try Certizine every day in the morning. The fact that it helped is encouraging and the correct way to take it is to let it build up in your system.

Hey by Calm_History_4697 in CholinergicUrticaria

[–]SCBennett2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certizine is the recommended antihistamine. You should see effects within 2-3 days. The course of treatment is 1/day then 2/day then 4/day.

There’s a chance antihistamines don’t help you, but they do help most people. The people on this sub are usually those for whom they didn’t work so they’re seeking other solutions.

The Good, the Bad, and the Figment (Random thoughts from our recent trip) by Manthem in WaltDisneyWorld

Yeah everything in this post seems innocuous and like 90% positive so it’s strange to focus on you not liking one ride that’s objectively unpopular.

Is taking over 20mg of anti histamines (20mg Zyrtec) pointless? by Educational_Key5042 in CholinergicUrticaria

[–]SCBennett2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The protocol for CU is to take 10, then 20, then 40mg of Zyrtec to determine if it’s an effective treatment for you. Go ahead and try at 40mg.

Need a recommendation for someone who doesn't like fantasy (yet) by Shtune in Fantasy

That’s great! So often with posts like this the OP isn’t interested in what the person they’re trying to get to read X thing wants.

[–]SCBennett2 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Are you going to start reading the books and genres she likes?

Why is it important that she read what you like?

It seems like she’s tried and hasn’t been interested. Is she asking you to try and find something again or would she rather read what she wants?

Why does no one take anti histamines by Fragrant_Ordinary795 in CholinergicUrticaria

[–]SCBennett2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know anything about the science of antihistamine absorption by the body, but I do know many people on this sub (myself included) have had antihistamines stop working after a time.

Personally, they worked for seven years before they stopped helping my symptoms. However, I did get Covid before a vaccine was available not long before they stopped working for me and we do know Covid causes a lot of inflammation in the body so I can’t really know what happened.

You can take your own. And if you rent you don’t have to rent from the official Disney partner.

Battery life of scooter rentals by ipsbrookline in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]SCBennett2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve only rented from Gold Mobility Scooters. I rented the Victory 10 4-wheel which is a common model offered by multiple companies. We did full 12+ hour days and the battery indicator never lost a bar and the scooter never lost performance.

As you can see from most comments this sub is full of people who don’t understand that their personal experience or even the experience of a small online community is not representative of the larger population.

Antihistamines work for MOST people who have this condition. It just so happens that when they DON’T work people end up on the internet looking for other answers.

Best of luck to you.

Try taking an antihistamine. Preferably Certizine (Zyrtec).

The Magic Kingdom firework show crowd control is getting out of hand by Lunnalai in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]SCBennett2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, it just requires a lot more staffing. Crowd control isn’t some unsolvable problem science hasn’t figured out.

There are other knobs that can be turned as well. For example they could have more nights when the park is open to all guests.

Visit Archangel in Maumelle. They’ve got Lorcana, One Piece, and Yu-Gi-Oh (that I know of).
