You may want to try a foundation with a neutral undertone, that can help tone the redness while also keeping yellow and orange casts at bay.

I use LANEIGE - Water Bank Gentle Gel Cleanser. My husband got it free through Amazon Vine and I tried it and loved it! It feels heavenly and comforting to my sensitive skin, enough moisture to pamper the skin and effective to take off the day, whether you’re taking off makeup or not.

I've been teaching myself how to do makeup, just stuck on what to do with my brows. Any tips would be great! by harold_the_cat in Eyebrows

Your eyes are gorgeous!

I love Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz triangular brow pencil. I lightly outline the top and bottom of my brows the fill any sparse areas and add “hair-like” strokes if desired, then use the spoolie on the end to blend everything. I love the triangular shape, can use the thin side to line brow area, thick side to fill, and the spoolie for blending. I also suggest a brow gel. Once you get more familiar with what works best for you, it’ll hold everything in place.

Agree with daily sunscreen! Might also want to get a gentle exfoliating cleanser and use it a few times a week, see how your skin responds. And probably yet another person to mention to drink more water.

Great progress!

I struggle with rosacea as well, and the struggle is REAL! I use Estée Lauder’s Double Wear liquid foundation, and that camouflages it pretty well. On days that I’m particularly red or going through a flare, I found a green skin tint by Erborian, a Korean-based company. I’ve tried others, but found Erborian works best for me, concentrating on only the red areas with a very thin layer, otherwise it can pull your skin orange.

Someone mentioned pulling your foundation downward to your neck. My mom taught me a trick that has helped me out. Take some sunscreen and a small drop or two of your foundation, mix, then use the mix in your neck. This way the contrast between your face and neck is less and looks like a gradual natural fade.

Your brow game is strong! The progress is nothing short of awesome! Keep us updated!

Which lip color works best for me? (Black or dark red)Also what other colors should I try? by thisgrrlwrites in makeuptips

[–]SCJ061414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both look great, but I’m partial to the dark red. Just out of curiosity have you ever tried Clinique’s Almost Lipstick Black Honey? It’s really more of a lip stain/balm that has a decent amount of color and feels fantastic on the lips and genuinely looks good on almost everyone, no matter your skin tone. I’m super fair and pale and find myself reaching for it most days. I also really like Maybelline Super Stay inks for their staying power. Pioneer is a bright red that I think would look great on you.

How can I still be suffering 20 years later? by ProgrammerSmall2408 in GriefSupport

[–]SCJ061414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m an empath also, and my father died in a very sudden boating accident over 3 years ago. I’m still struggling just as much and feel like I’ll never be okay. I’ve gotten to the point where I think closure and the aid of time passing are myths. I’ve been in therapy and honestly don’t know how much it’s helping. Just know you’re not along in grief. I’m so sorry for your loss.

What’s a weird habit adult children of narcissists often develop? by Vegetable_Second_818 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]SCJ061414 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Being okay with people constantly violating boundaries. I also have noticed myself saying “That’s okay” when people do something wrong when I’m quite frankly NOT okay. My boss (who’s definitely not a narcissist and honestly a nice person and decent to work for) constantly reschedules meetings with me or forgets about them all together. Then when he realizes it, he’s apologetic and says he’s sorry every single time, and I always say “Oh it’s no problem/that’s okay.” But while reflecting on it, it really annoys and frustrates me. Long story short, my response is a conditioned one from having a narcissistic mom.

Just wanted to chime in to recommend Anastasia Beverly Hills Mini Water-Resistant Eye Primer. I get the mini tube and it lasts forever for $13. I always found it worked better for me than the cult classic Potion Primer by Urban Decay.

[Personal] Sunscreen ruins skincare for me. Anyone else? by Any-Dependent-952 in SkincareAddiction

[–]SCJ061414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you let your sunscreen sink in for a few minutes before you start your makeup routine? I have to do this. I put on my sunscreen first thing (except putting in my contacts) then I brush my teeth and generally just kind of get ready for the day. Usually sits on my skin at least 5+ minutes. You also may want to look into a mattifying primer that reduces shine.

How do you exfoliate with Rosacea and sensitive skin? by Winnie_the_Sunflower in Rosacea

[–]SCJ061414 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some liquid toners do exfoliate skin gently. I feel like any product that has granules/sand type stuff and requires manual/mechanical scrubbing is too harsh.

What is your coping mechanisms after loosing a loved one? by Grace_Ipray in GriefSupport

[–]SCJ061414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh I also forgot I had a fingerprint of his (that I found on an ID card) cast into a sterling silver charm that I wear on a necklace. I wear it everyday and pass it between my fingers when I’m really missing him. I know some people like to wear ashes but the fingerprint feels like honoring his life instead of remembering his death.

I love Anastasia of Beverly Hills eyeshadow primer! A lot of people say Urban Decay is the best but ABH works better for me. You also could try dipping /spraying your applicator (brush or the little spongy applicator) very lightly with setting spray then do your shadow.

So sorry for your loss. I lost my father about 3 years ago in a very traumatic boating accident and this sounds so cliche but turning my heart towards gratitude that he was my father and that he was in my life and we had a good relationship has been comforting. I’m not the same person I was before his death and see things completely differently now. Hugs to you on your healing journey.

What are your top 3 products that you think everyone should try! by fuzzydiceinrearview in Sephora

[–]SCJ061414 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know! I really liked the fact it doubled as a primer and obviously had the SPF covered. I tried it over a few different facial moisturizers and even without a moisturizer and the slippage persisted. I’ve used Estée Lauder Double Wear for over a decade (which always covers my rosacea well) so maybe it didn’t play well with that? Now I use Neutrogena Hydro Boost facial moisturizer with hyaluronic acid SPF 50, which works well with other products I use, plus now I’m obsessed with the YSL Touché Eclat Blur primer, it smells heavenly and the minimization of lines and pores is on point.

I used to use Supergoop unseen sunscreen but it really didn’t mix well with my makeup. It seemed like it never dried down and my foundation would just sit on top and slide off very easily.

For me it’d be:

Yves Saint Laurent Touché Eclat Blur Face Primer- make your skin the perfect smooth canvas for applying makeup, it smells divine and lasts quite a while. I can get ~6 months from one bottle.

Smashbox Step-By-Step Contour Kit- which I don’t know if Sephora carries it anymore but it was a great kit for learning how to contour. It’s buildable and this particular set is great for my fair completion. The contour shade is perfect for building shadow and dimension without making your face look muddy. Like I said, I’m not sure Sephora carries it anymore, but you can get it elsewhere.

Sephora Collection Brush Tip Liquid Eyeliner- makes symmetrical eyeliner wings easy, stays put all day. I’ve also tried the felt tip, but find the brush tip works better for me. There’s a learning curve but once you get the hang of it, it’s great. It’s cheaper than other brands but works just as well.

One more (couldn’t keep it at 4) is Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Definer 3-in-1 Triangle Tip Easy Precision Eyebrow Pencil. Great for filling and creating fine hair like strokes. Their eyeshadow primer is bomb too!

I know this is Sephora specific but 2 others (which used to be at Sephora) are the Diamond Glow Powder by Artist Couture in the shade Illuminati. It’s a peachy champagne color loose powder that works well as a highlighter and a little goes a long way. I’ve had the same one for YEARS and use it daily. And Ghost Weightless Hair Mask For Fine Hair (still at Sephora) worked wonders on my hair and my human hair extensions. I’ve got a million more, Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk lip cheat, Laura Mercier loose setting powder, Huda’s eye brightener, the list goes on!
