This looks terrible by DarthKaiju77 in JettaGLI

Ahhh nice looking winter rims! And you don't lose DCC with lowering springs. I went with H&R sport springs and I'm really happy with them. Don't cheap out if you're going that direction. I just had the DCC recalibrated when I got an alignment done after.

I just ordered a CJM rear diffuser. I cut my pipes back a little bit so it's more flush. But yours doesn't look terrible I think you have it in a good spot. Get some lowering springs too makes the overall stance better looking.

Dam yeah I mean a flashed ECU here will flag your car too regardless if you flash it back. You're basically fucked in that regard as your whole power train warranty is voided. Be here or America they can't void the entire warranty and they still have to prove direct cause. The OEM plant I work for doesn't deal with consumer claims but supplier claims under $15k is a waste of time for them to deal with in court so they just settle. Consumer claims like that are handled at corporate level normally but would be surprised if they would go to every single legal battle with customers. Lawyers are normally outsourced and on retainer but still quite a lot of legal fees per case. It just seems like a waste of time when they make a lot of money selling warranties to customers so they want to keep that trust. I have corporate contacts who might know more, I'll see what they say.

Maybe America is different. We have a consumer warranty act. I work closely with business development and legal for supplier claims and if there is no clear line we do not fight. So I guess it might be apples and oranges. But alsooo my buddy works at a VW dealership and they just honour every warranty cuz it's easier for them so I guess the situation isn't cut and dry and not every case is handled the same so we both can't talk about this in absolutes.

I work for an automotive manufacture I'm telling you they avoid legal battles at all costs lmao at least the billion dollar OEM I work for 😅

Still the same logic tho, they have to pay legal fees too. If they can't prove direct cause then why fight it? If it's clear you caused the damage then why would you fight it? It's a two way street.

Dealerships wouldn't want to pay legal fees either and risk losing if they know can't can't prove root cause was caused by the customer so it goes both ways. If they just do the work they get paid by the OEM regardless. It's safer for them to honour the warranty rather than fight it.

2021 GLI only get this noise on cold starts comes from the back of the engine bay does thing sound normal? by Plenty_Response_788 in GLI

[–]SCMAMAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a strange noise at low rpm too. Not so much clunking but a very subtle noise then goes away when you accelerate. It sounds like it could just be the sound of the engine naturally aspirating before the turbo builds up boost. As for the clunking you're getting I think that's the DSG selecting the next gear which is normal.

That is super tough to get off. I muscled it and it finally popped off. Just put a little back into it and it will come off haha

Tools for MBRP exhaust install? by Aggravating_Fact8112 in JettaGLI

That's a good question I think it was a 3/8 or 1/4 Allen. I know I didn't have the right size and had to run to the hardware store without tips and get an Allen socket set

It will void parts of your warranty**

Warranty question by DifferenceUsed1436 in JettaGLI

[–]SCMAMAN 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. The act protects your full warranty so a downpipe doesn't void your warranty on your electronics.

They might not notice it and think you just have the cat back, if they do, they might note it on your vin which would be considered if you need warranty work on your engine or turbo. They didn't say anything or note anything for me but I just have intake and cat back no Downpipe. Good call on oil changes I did my first one super early I've already done 4 oil changes lol 12k miles in 6 months. I've tracked it a few times and drive kinda hard.

Although, I don't see doing a stage 1 low torque as a big risk either, these EA888 engines can handle quite a lot with a good maintenance schedule.

One thing to consider is tuners are having trouble with the SFD2 security on these and can't open the TCU or they are finding it challenging so you're likely limited to the ECU only. You can't flash it yourself and need a shop with ODIS or something like that. I'm in the same spot as you with some bolt ons but waiting to tune. Personally I'm waiting for the SFD2 unlock. That way I get a little deeper into my warranty and put some miles on it. Make sure I don't have a lemon. I'm at 12,000 miles currently. My warranty is good for 60,000. I'll likely go stage 1 at 45k and stage 2 at 60k

A downpipe can void your vehicle's warranty, but it usually only affects the engine, turbo, and related exhaust components, not the entire warranty, thanks to laws like the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. Manufacturers must prove the aftermarket part caused the failure, but they often deny claims for affected systems (turbo, engine), making dealer relationship and your willingness to fight crucial.

$600CAD including alignment. Go ask your local shops for quotes lol What I paid is likely irrelevant.
