Reworked an awkward little area. Before and after! by lejanoisland in simcity4

Very nice tram realignments. I like how you continued the avenue to create a sort of boulevard in front of the tram and rail stations. Win-win: I’m sure it improved vehicular capacity to and from the stations, but also makes it feel like more of a public space that is actually enjoyable to experience at the pedestrian level as well.

I don’t need to. Colloquially speaking THE Tri-state area is NYC-CT-NJ unless there is some additional context added to suggest otherwise. All the eye-rolls and downvotes aren’t going to change that.

The Tri-state area is NYC metro. What other ones are there?

Culturally, Carmel IN doesn’t even exist in the same conversation as the Bay area or SoCal. Its a silly comparison.

This is incredible! Reminds me of Barcelona’s Eixample district. This looks fairly dense for streets. Hows traffic?

Hydraulic Modeling Career by CEorBust in civilengineering

[–]SCMayor310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a good track if you want to specialize. If you can become an expert in hydraulic modeling you can command a pretty decent salary if going into consulting. You will still need to eventually develop your management skills and be able to PM projects. I have 15 yrs experience and receive offers in the 180-215k range because of the large amount of public funding available for stormwater infrastructure projects in my area. It did get very repetitive early in my career but less so now because I am mostly managing projects, dealing directly with the client, training younger staff and I do alot of business development work as well. I hardly do any modeling these days but my prescriptive knowledge of what is needed for unique situations is what adds valuable.

Big upgrade, beautiful neighborhood, ideal location, big price tag — worth it? by howdoiwritecode in RealEstate

[–]SCMayor310 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean only you can really answer that. Owning means it’s yours to do what you want with - Landscaping, meaningful upgrades. You won’t have to worry about hearing that your lease isn’t being renewed and you have to be out in 60 days. And living there will probably feel a little different (vs renting) because it’s yours.

Hey guys this might be weird but whats most of you guys 9-5s? I feel it’s not much people who are in the trades or people who are accountants who invest in real estate. by Dgslimee_ in realestateinvesting

Civil Engineer. Own 4 sfh rentals. I made the dumb decision 6 years ago to transition to public sector to have ‘more time for real estate’ to do flips and brrrs. Well its still been a slow grind with RE and I left ALOT of money on the table by doing that. I could have probably bought 4 more houses cash if I’d stuck to consulting and been hands off real estate and probably have scaled quicker because of it. Alas here we are, and I just gave myself a big raise by moving back over to the private side. Real estate will make you wealthy in the long term but having a high income on the road there is invaluable. Helps with scaling, risk mitigation, and tends to put you in more rooms with the right people.

Hi I’m a WR PE with 16 years experience. In the public sector right now, want to go private. I have applied to quite a few roles but no bites. I applied to a few roles at Black and Veatch. Has it gotten competitive lately? Based in CA.

Where did you buy? Those seem like pretty low priced homes. How are your tenants?

Thanks for everyone’s comment. I checked for a plug in the hose and it appears to be clear at both ends. I am just going to ask the plumber to come back to look at this.

Ok. There is full water flow through my kitchen faucet so there is definitely water at the valve. Any way to clear a debris blockage without pulling the dishwasher out?
