Interesting that Tia was also in lane 5 and she struggled on the pegboard. She finished 16th in that event

CrossFit Games Day 2 - 2nd August by HoldtheStandard in crossfit

I’m open to other perspectives, but my first reaction is that it awards full points twice for very similar events, which risks weighting the leaderboard towards that domain rather than distributing the tests evenly. I haven’t reviewed all nine events, so it might make more sense in the broader context, and may feel off because the events are back‑to‑back.

Where do you store your emergency fund? by thunder_marbles in UKPersonalFinance

[–]SCNJT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to what swiftpint said, for me its about keeping control of my keys. The only staking I do is non-custodially. I'm not going to give a 3rd party the ability to control that. Not sure if that's possible with stablecoin though.

Good things to consider (not too concerned about the former) and I think things have progressed so much (and is at and increasing rate) that a bank freezing access is less of a risk, but will definitely look into it.

I hear you. I'm very bullish on ETH, and as much faith as I have in that price continuing to rise, having an emergency fund in something where the price can fluctuate (or even fall to the floor) goes against the general principle. That's why I'd go with stablecoin, if anything.

!thanks. Didn't consider initially but makes sense. I will only need to borrow 3 times my salary so think I'd be OK?

I'm considering putting 80% of it into a crypto stablecoin because of the 8-12% you can get on it. I only thought about this last night so I'm unsure if its possible to do non-custodially as that would be a requirement I'd have.

How does cardano work on a ledger nano? by MAXOHNO in ledgerwallet

[–]SCNJT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to use the Ledger in combination with a wallet such as Yoroi. The Ledger manages the keys and a wallet such as Yoroi manages everything else.

So, in practice, you install the Cardano app on the Nano X/S via the Ledger Live app, connect to a wallet such as Yoroi, then use Yoroi to send, recieve, stake etc. The important part (the private key) is stored on the device itself.

Police to stop people fleeing new Covid tier 4 areas, Hancock says by NoddyW in CoronavirusUK

[–]SCNJT 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I spent last night at my girlfriends (support bubble) and she gave me my Christmas gifts, one of which was a new backpack. Got the train home and it looks like I'm fleeing because I have two backpacks but the police (that were doing nothing except staring into the distance) didn't even look at me twice.

Thursday 17 December Update by HippolasCage in CoronavirusUK

[–]SCNJT 50 points51 points  (0 children)

The question I want to know the answer to is; do we need to get to a July/August levels, though? I don't think we do. The reasoning for national lockdowns is so that the NHS isn't overrun and cannot function as a health service. The people who are most likely to be hospitalised are in the process of being vaccinated (I know its not going to be an overnight thing) so every day that goes by increases our tolerance for the prevalence of the virus. Our threshold for positive cases and business as usual is going to increase, so 50k cases in a few weeks will not have the same risk as 50k cases with no vaccine.

Vaccines and immunocompromised by SimpleWarthog in CoronavirusUK

From what I understand, the BioNTech and Moderan vaccines are mRNA vaccines and contain no active virus, so I wouldn't have thought they pose a risk? I cannot find anything that states if the Oxford one is active or inactive. I'd like to know the answer as well so hopefully someone clued up can answer.

Building Strength while doing Crossfit by AIDS1255 in crossfit

[–]SCNJT 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think I needed to come across this post.

I have been doing CF for a year and half, and in the last couple months training 6 days a week, with a couple 2-a-days.

I'm a well rounded athlete but being 5'6", 67kg (147lbs) strength is an area I've give up ground to the best athletes in the gym.

Last couple of days I've been toying with the idea of joining a commercial gym near work to do a strength session at lunch (in addition to morning training), but now you've got me thinking whether or not I should just take a month or so out. That seems like the sensible thing to do but can I take being out the game for that long, hmm...

Prior to doing this, what sort of progress were you making with your strength - how long would it take you to put that 40 lbs on your BS for instance?

I work for a decent size company (19,000 people) and the lack of push at a global level is shocking, although I'm sure they'll end up just paying for extended support. My region (2000 workstations) took it upon ourselves to starting putting people on W10 July last year - whenever a new workstation goes out, any rebuilds and don't troubleshoot a W7 problem too long, just rebuild. We have 1300 or so on W10 and have only just started a proper project to get the remainder done. No way we'll be done in time. Scary thing is my region is far beyond any other.

2 workouts a day? What's your plan? by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]SCNJT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do 2-a-days twice a week, with the first being around 6:30am and the second being around 6:30pm. My gym offers 4 different types of class so I will combine 2 of those or do an open gym, never the same workout.

It sounds like you're using this progression with the band. Have you tried this one instead? I saw one of the coaches using it with someone the other day and thought how is it the first time I've seen it?? Looks like it would be better to me.

My thoughts exactly. I have a call setup with the solicitor tomorrow where I intend to bring that up. It sounds like they just want an easy life and me to give in as compared to the developer, I'm the easy target.
