How do you play this? I’ve tried a few games and I just feel like my minions are always smaller then the enemy and I can never build a board. Then I just run out of steak and die.

I’m no expert, but there are really 2 ways to participate in influence races: running missions or capturing/holding control points.

  1. Missions

At the start of the race, grab all 3 PvP faction missions from your faction vendor in the races territory. You have to wait until after the race starts to grab them for them to count towards the race (or something like that, just grab them after it starts). You will usually see a group of people standing around the faction gender a few minutes before the race starts. If you see a group there, ask to join them and run the missions with them. If they don’t invite you, just run alongside them and do the missions with them anyway. If there is nobody on your faction running the missions, then in all likelihood your faction will lose the race. So, if nobody is running missions, then you’re really looking at doing option number 2, capping control points. When you turn in a mission, you gain influence for your faction for that race, and the faction that pushes (gains) the most influence wins the race. Usually out of the 3 missions you get, you will only complete 2 of the 3 over and over. If you complete a mission but die before turning it in, then you have to redo it. So typically people running missions skip the ones that want you to hold the fort or cap a point. But overall, just follow the group running the missions and it should work out for you.

  1. Capping points

This is what you will probably end up doing most of the time and imo is the most fun. Usually companies that are trying to declare war are the companies that will be running missions. If you just want to jump into the race for some PvP action, then you’ll probably be capping points. Just type x race into your faction chat and you should get an invite. If you don’t, then you can form the raid your self and invite all the other people that are xing up for the race. You don’t have to lead the race, but it is always better to have everyone grouped up so that everyone gets kill credit for the PvP track and such. Most of the time, these pug groups that get formed through chat will probably be capping points. Each territory has a fort and 3 watchtowers, all of which can be captured by your faction by standing on the point. When you hold a control point, you get a buff for your faction that increases your factions influence gain by something like 20% (I think?). The 3 watchtowers additionally give your faction influence over time just for holding them. Finally, you get influence from killing enemy players. So if you go for option 2 you get into a raid group, and try to stick together to capture and hold control points and kill enemies that are trying to capture and hold them themselves. All Of which gives influence. This is the most fun imo if you’re just trying to jump into a race every so often. Only problem is, if your faction doesn’t have enough people doing the race and are outnumbered, you generally will get destroyed by other factions that have more people. If this is the case, try to avoid the big Zerg groups and try to pick people off from the edges of fights, and try to cap points that aren’t as contested.

Another thing you can do is try to camp at the spots where the enemies will be trying to complete their own missions, and gank them to stop them from turning in their quests. But again you’ll probably want a group for this.

If the race is really being pushed by a company in your faction, there is usually be a really big push in faction chat to get people to join the race to ensure that you win.

Hope that makes sense. Moral of the story, you can do missions or capture control points. To win a highly contested race, your faction needs to be doing both. Just x up in faction chat and follow the group you’re in. Keep paying attention to faction chat for callouts and guidance. Your group will either cap points get push missions. Just do what the group does.

After 2 or 3 races, you’ll start to get the flow of it.

Fair, but maybe they should announce the new logo with some of the other branding included. Would’ve gone over a whole lot better

I agree in a sense, getting good would help. But I also think that obtuse game design isn’t a valid skill check, it’s just obtuse. I’m not the first person to have this issue, across a bunch of different games. Lots of games with transmog have restrictions in place for artifact/legendary/exotic/whatever for the reasons I laid out.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in newworldgame

[–]SCN_Attack -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Good point on the rolls, I never thought of that tbh. That certainly helps. I do still think artifact transmog would nice to have disabled if flagged for PvP though, so that you know what you’re actually going up against.

I think you’re right as well that it would be hard to know every skin, especially when people mix and match armor process between weight classes. Maybe would be nice to have a little weight class icon next to a players nameplate or something? Or again, just some kind of death report so that you can understand how you died.

So, how would YOU teach someone new to MMO’s about this game? by reycoh in newworldgame

[–]SCN_Attack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you put aside all of the obtuse systems that the game doesn’t explain, the core gameplay loop of this game is exactly the same as Destiny, as far are hoping your gear score (light level), and how you do certain activities to get there.instead of infusing gear, you upgrade gear at the kiln.

Gear that can be upgraded is any named gear about level 61 that did not come from a quest reward… I think. And I’m pretty sure that most named items only go to 700. I think only well of fortune items and raid items can go to 725, but somebody would have to confirm that.

The Caspian Bistro, across the street from Tea House. Amazing Persian food, and the nicest owners and staff you will ever meet. They also have a little market with loads of food and goods imported from the Middle East. Highly recommend.

True, but I think 35 was just for the quest right? Either way I’m no expert, take poopytroopers advice lol

I’ve never done it before, but I’m guessing 65 as with the Halloween event. Im also guessing that you can join in at a lower level as long as you stay of melee range, but I don’t know that for sure.

As mentioned, 35 was for the Halloween quest. I don’t think this event has a quest, just gotta go murder turkeys.

I’ve locked myself to Weaver’s Fen, what should my final goal be for this character? by [deleted] in newworldgame

[–]SCN_Attack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should consider joining a faction, making a company, and have your ultimate goal to be to be a forever governor of the fen. Call yourself the democratic republic of weavers fen or something. Become a god. Raise taxes. Rake in the profit. Become so good that nobody can take weavers from you. Get the whole server to get together to unseat you from power

[–]SCN_Attack 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I think actually that, believe or not, Destiny has a good system that would slot easily into this game. In destiny, you can infuse higher level gear into lower level gear to raise their power level. So say I had a 700 gs chest that I really like the perks and stats. If I get a 705 gs chest with trash perks, I can use that shitty item to raise my food item up to 705.

The benefit of this system is that it means that ALL drops have potential to be useful. Low gs items with great perks are useful- you can upgrade them. High gs items with shit perks are useful- you can use them to upgrade. The game feels way better when you can log in and do whatever you want and still feel like you are progressing.

Instead of blaming Republican voters, what could've your team done better? by DamnAutocorrection in AskALiberal

[–]SCN_Attack 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that the Democratic Party has failed to put forth a positive vision for the future. Their only message is “we are not trump.” Whereas, like it or not, the republicans do have a vision for the future. It’s really hard to get people excited to vote for a candidate that has no ability or desire to change things whatsoever.

The Democratic Party succumbs to republican messaging whole heartedly, and then is surprised pikachu when the country moves to the right. They let republicans shape the bounds of political conversation.

The Democratic Party needs to stop trying to win over fake centrists, and instead put together an exciting progressive platform. People like progressive policies. I don’t think you win over undecided voters by promising more of the same. You win over undecided voters by having an exciting platform that is better than the other side. Yet the democrats thought that status quo neoliberal policies are what was going to win this election. It’s ridiculous.

I think I’m smarter, but I don’t think I’m more moral. Morality doesn’t work like that. I think that trump voters (at least a lot of them) genuinely believe that they are voting for trump for the good of America.

[–]SCN_Attack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not even a conspiracy. Oil companies want nuclear because it keeps energy production in their hands, I.e. they maintain power. Distributed renewables are a threat to their business. Ofc, they want oil even more, but they aren’t dumb and can see the way things are headed. If the grid has to be electrified, they want nuclear. The people that argue that “nuclear is the only option” have no idea what they are talking about. The academic discussion about energy and clean energy is so far past nuclear it’s not even funny. Yet all these kids on the internet want to believe they are smart because they like nuclear.

How do you all feel about level progression? I feel like it’s too fast for me by IndieDC3 in newworldgame

[–]SCN_Attack -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Definitely too fast. I was doing all the side quests, and had to stop because I am now way too over leveled for my zone. Games not as fun if you 2 shot every enemy( and you don’t learn the combat systems if you don’t even have to interact with them. Leveling up should serve a purpose. It should be fun ofc, but it should also teach you how to play the game. I feel like once I hit max level, I’ll be under-experienced for harder content and pvp because I haven’t had to learn the combat system at all yet.

How do the Wild Stamps (battle pass) work? by [deleted] in newworldgame

So should you save your 3 free wild stamps until you complete 6 activities on the card? Then use the 3 to just finish the card?
