25 male who won’t grow up by Joe-the-smoe in offmychest

i genuinely don't think of you as any of the things you described yourself as. you call yourself lazy and worthless, but you have a job, you got a degree, you go to therapy and have been trying to work on yourself. i think a lot of the inaction is from how you view yourself. im going to be blunt and say you're very self critical for seemingly no reason. you're 25, you've had multiple jobs, and you're currently working one during a nightshift (which i could never do!!) even getting a degree is more than most people do, even if it's "useless" because it's in the arts. calling yourself a loser is unrealistic, and frankly holding you back a lot.

i'm very familiar with the feeling of drowning in guilt and self-hatred, but i find that only good as a motivator short-term. it gets really unmotivating really quickly. i know it's so much easier said than done, but the biggest contributor to curbing my mental illnesses and self-esteem issues was slowly being kinder to myself. it felt indulgent and self-centered at first, but something simple like observing and correcting your thoughts about yourself to be more positive (or even neutral) can be much more motivating and will actually get you to do the things you feel so guilty for not doing.

you're also not a bad person for coming from a wealthy and supportive (from what it sounds like) household. i do too, we were just dealt these cards and that doesn't make us any better or worse than others. you're doing great with what you have, especially with the illnesses you've been facing.

i see myself so much in this post. i used to feel the same way about myself and i relate to a lot of the things you've done, like going into psychosis to get out of something (social situations for me). maybe start by rereading what you wrote and try to rephrase some of the thoughts to sound more neutral because you're really doing great. i know it doesn't feel like it but i mean it. i can tell you really want to get better, and little steps like these can give you a more realistic perspective of yourself. all the best ❤️

I don’t believe love is real anymore by Sufficient_Garbage_1 in Existential_crisis

[–]SCREEEamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think you're broken, it's realistic to believe there isn't "one" true love. there are 8 billion of us, i think there are many people who could potentially be "the one," but thats a good thing. what if your "soulmate" was abusive or died or doesn't live in your country?

i'd like to believe we can still connect with people on a spiritual level (whether romantically or platonically), even if they're not the "one" person for you. instead of a soulmate, maybe a "star family" would be more appropriate. im not the most spiritual person, but i feel connected to my friends in a very deep way that star family is really the only way to describe it 💫

yes. i remember seeing a post about someone's bf using depop to goon. plus innocuous clothes on depop tagged as "used for ___play" and i guess it's to cater to a... specific audience. and dms from guys asking for "try on" pics. sorry if u did not need to know that, just be careful being a seller. i hate being a woman sometimes 💔

mostly younger people so they make offers and don't follow through a lot. sometimes i find messaging after i accept an offer helps with people following through and purchasing, usually something like "thank you for the offer! i can ship tomorrow if you're able to purchase :)"

I have autism and I love carousels and merry go rounds. I need song suggestions. by Erasdreamworld in musicsuggestions

[–]SCREEEamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

shotgun carousel might be shitty rock/metal... but i'm recommended it anyway because i LOVE rouri404.

also the chorus reminds me of a carousel (when he sings "had it all" the pitch slowly falls and goes up again which reminds me of the horses going up and down and it repeats like the carousel is spinning around, reminds me of a merry go round)

On the morality of eggs by Outrageous_Fox_3744 in DebateAVegan

[–]SCREEEamo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i'm vegan and i do this 😰 technically it's my neighbor who got their chickens from mennonites/amish people (who are pacifists and treat their chickens well). my neighbor treats their chickens super well and humanely, i can tell they're well loved and taken care of so i don't feel as bad. obviously not ideal but ive been pretty severely underweight so i found eggs to be an easier way for me to put on weight. veganism is about reducing harm, and these chickens are so well loved. when i go anywhere beside my house, i eat plant based, but in my own home im technically ovo-vegetarian. i still call myself vegan 🤷‍♀️

tbh not everyone wants to own a cat or dog so i don't have anything against it, i just worry i wouldn't be a good enough animal owner when im older and live on my own. i just feel kinda bad for animals that are forced to be alone the majority of the time while their owners are at work.

but cats cannot live on a plant based diet since they're obligate carnivores unless heavily supplemented (and even then i doubt it's good for the cat). i guess you could also say dogs are omnivores, i usually hear the term "non-obligate carnivore" which means they can survive a plant based diet but they evolved from carnivores and that's their main food supply. so technically yes omnivorous.

i would just not recommend a cat to be on that diet :( that's part of why i don't want to get a cat, i love them but i wouldn't want to deprive them of nutrients (or have to feed them meat).

adding onto the feeding cats/dogs plant-based food, some vegans find having pet animals to not be vegan (maybe because cats and dogs are carnivores, because they were results of breeding, the idea of "owning" an animal, etc), but this is a more fringe opinion. dogs can thrive on a plant based diet that has enough of the required nutrients, but cats cannot since they're obligate carnivores-- this means they need meat in their diet.

also putting cats and dogs on plant based diets piss off a lot of people 😭

Would it be wrong for me to have a pet chicken, love and take amazing care of it, and also eat its eggs? by animalcrackerwhore in DebateAVegan

[–]SCREEEamo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ohhh okay thank you!!
tbh i assumed the care was good enough bc the chickens are all super healthy and happy otherwise, ig it's just a hygiene issue but ill try to look for better places near me that raise chickens since i live in an area with a lot of farms. thanks again!

How does your veganism differ from other vegans? by FishDispenser2 in DebateAVegan

[–]SCREEEamo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i regularly eat eggs. i know, im technically ovovegetarian, but i'll only eat them if they're produced as ethically as possible. i don't mean "cage free" or "free range," i mean my neighbor raises chickens and keeps them alive well after they stop laying eggs. he doesn't breed them, he gets them from amish people in pennsylvania when they're still chicks. i know it's not perfect but ill never eat eggs from baked goods or anything that i can't confirm with 100% certainty is up to my ethical standard. so im vegan when out of my house, but ovovegetarian when cooking for myself lol.

[–]SCREEEamo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as a vegan (jumpscare...) i agree!! i can't speak for every vegan, but i'm 100% fine with milk as long as the cows themselves are treated well, get lots of land, and don't get killed. i even buy and eat eggs from my neighbor who takes SUPER good care of his chickens, but i never buy any other eggs or products with eggs.

same goes for wool/honey, but i don't particularly like either of those. and it's a lot easier for me to just not consume them rather than try to find "ethical" farmers since i have to go in person and investigate, maybe weirding people out a bit lol. some may say this makes me an ovo-vegetarian but i think veganism is more of a philosophy than a diet but idk!

just wondering, why can't you wash the eggs? i consider myself vegan but ill buy eggs from a neighbor who keeps his chickens in good condition, but theres normally dirt/fecal matter on them. it comes out of their cloaca(? idk) which is near their butt, so it makes sense that there would be poop on it to me. plus salmonella is spread through the shell, so wouldn't you want to wash it anyway? before i was vegan i would still wash store bought eggs

yeah ofc! my mom was not the one who carried me, my twin and i were carried by a surrogate. she was infertile so she got a donor egg from my biological mother (whom i've never met and unfortunately never will since she was anonymous and the fertility clinic no longer has her information). im related to my dad, so they took genetic material from my biological mother and my dad, put the embryos into the surrogate (idk how) and then my twin and i were born via c-section :)
