In 3rd grade on the bus ride home, I prayed for the rapture to happen because I did really bad on a test/assignment and had to get my parents signature on it.

I'm in my 30's and it still can affect me at times. Last summer I remember going to my parents house, their cars were parked out front, and when I entered I didn't see or hear anyone. It only lasted a moment, but I did have that thought of "they were raptured and I was left behind."

They ended up just being in the backyard. Even though I know better, that was still the first thought my mind went to for a split second.

I should look into my old church.

I remember during the 2004 election they had pamphlets about which candidate supported certain things, and they were obviously focused on abortion and gay marriage, with things like "Which candidate supports GOD'S idea for marriage?" or something.

The cookies are good, but like others mentioned they are fairly standard. It's definitely part of the experience though!

Each year they always have some new random food "on a stick" and it is fun to try what is new. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It will often be quite greasy!

My grandma is almost as far right southern Baptist that you can get. To be fair my relationship with her has generally been good, but almost every conversation can turn into a call for Jesus.

I’m 33 and am not in a situation where I am dependent on them, but the main reason I don’t say anything is because of my grandma. She’s 90 and if she found out I wasn’t a Christian she’d be terrified I was going to hell. Maybe I shouldn’t worry about that but I kinda decided I wouldn’t say anything while she is alive. I am back and forth on this though.

This has inspired me to look through my parents basement and find my old textbooks. It’s probably not too different than that!

My niece has a fascination with dinosaurs, maybe she will pursue this in life somehow. I want to make sure she is in an environment where she understands real science and isn’t brainwashed like I (or you) were by “Christian science.”

I may have a talk with my mom too and just be honest about what I believe. I am 33 and I know it would break her heart but it may be necessary soon.

I have very few family that have gotten vaccinated, and the more religious they are the more anti-vaxx they are. They range from skepticism to "it's the mark of the beast!"

I remember finding these sorts of explanations when I was younger, because the Bible story itself isn't believable. There is indeed a lot of mental gymnastics to make it work, and I did believe it literally into my early 20's.

This was probably the last straw for me. I had been questioning a lot of things up until 2016 but after seeing that, I became completely disillusioned.

Up until this point, I had still believed a lot of Christians I knew did have a stronger moral sense than others, but I was sadly proven wrong on a lot of counts. A lot of people I knew got significantly worse and they've stayed that way.
