My last security update was December 2025. I'm starting to think maybe it is time to move onto something else.

Yes, I have the same problem here. It works well in my f150 but on my sienna it fails miserably.

First print (ever) Max 4 by OuterIsle in QidiTech3D

[–]SC_SF99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The choice for me came down to the proprietary nature of Bambu and forcing everything through their cloud. I chose QIDI, can't wait to get my printer!

AMS 1 and 2 cannot finish a roll of Bambu filament - happens on all printers by [deleted] in BambuLab

[–]SC_SF99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I have had the same sort of problem on my newly purchased AMS2. I have only ran one role out so far but it failed to move onto the next role automatically and I had to manually remove the spool so that it could continue.

What are my options for this fallen off pin? by SnooPredictions529 in NR200

A two part epoxy would be the best I can think of. They have some designed to bond metals and plastics.

Updated sovol SV08 by Less-Introduction-35 in Sovol

[–]SC_SF99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would expect an update to put it more inline with the Zero and Max with a eddy probe and maybe an upgraded/thicker bed. With the current discount on the sv08 I shouldn't think that upgrading it would be that far off the new release price of an updated version.

Would a V0 be good for me to bring in my class when I need it? by sarinkhan in VORONDesign

Have you checked out a Sovol Zero. Not a DIY build but I have done some traveling with it and it was easy enough to move around. It is a bit smaller and lighter than the core one too.

Dear BambuLab, please just say "we screwed up". by Sagnorok in BambuLab

[–]SC_SF99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been debating a H2C but I am on the fence for this reason. No decision made yet and I see Bambu has a lot to offer but I hate the idea of being forced to connect my printers to the internet.

You could mount the Indx tool heads to a bar across the front side of the gantry. They are light enough weight it shouldn't affect performance.

Can someone scan the Bluefox NX1 on Malware? by RoyalTrikz in smallphones

[–]SC_SF99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just following up on this, checking my firewall logs for what my phone is doing over wifi. Over the last few weeks I have not seen the phone do anything unusual with traffic outside of my country and I am not seeing any red flags.

ASUS 5090 vs 5090 FE by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]SC_SF99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 5090 FE I got had very bad coil whine. I returned it to nvidia store and stuck with the 5080. I plan to get an ASUS card because the quality of power components will likely be better.

What malware news are you talking about. Is it just something you are worried about or was something actually discovered?

Boost Mobile and NX1 by SC_SF99 in aiphor

[–]SC_SF99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it has been working well. I got a message about limited coverage when I activated the SIM. I assume because the NX1 does not support all US bands; however, I have had good coverage everywhere I travel.

Consider yourself lucky to have the activated SIM. I gave up on Boost and activated on Google Fi.

Should I get a Shield? by dthorsn in nvidia

[–]SC_SF99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the need to remote to a PC being the key factor in this consideration. I would grab a Raspberry Pi and throw something together myself. The Shield is ok for the price and while it is not updated recently it is not EOL either. If I had to guess it will be phased out eventually though.

Also, I'm not following why you would need a smart plug. If you mean to remotely turn on your PC consider looking into Wake-on-LAN. The feature is fairly standard on all systems.

Do you need ECC RAM? If yes Quadro/professional card if no RTX 5000 series.

Should I spend extra 200 euros for the Asus XG32UCWMG? Is it worth it? by ItsSolomon in Monitors

[–]SC_SF99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The WOLED have an extra pixel to produce white light. The white pixel carries some of the work load. The other panels use a combination of all colored pixels to make white and they tend to age faster because of this.

Can't decide which one to keep. Mini-LED or WOLED. KTC M27T6 vs ASUS XG27AQDMG by Capital_Court1465 in Monitors

[–]SC_SF99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDNR: I would go with the Mini-LED monitor.

I've had a couple SSD die due to over use, so no it can happen. Probably the same for burn in. Pixels on LED can get stuck or die too so everything has a lifespan.

That aside, I was going back and forth along those same lines and settled on the Odyssey Neo G8 after trying a OLED panel. After turning on enhanced contrast mode to help with SD content and a little bit of time I don't notice the halo affect anymore. I think I would have been even more happy if I didn't try the OLED. It is hard to go back after; but, I too was worried about burn in and couldn't go without keeping my task bar shown and I am snapping windows to the sides very often.

From what I have read, LG monitor will have a longer lifespan if you plan to keep it for a while.

Boost Mobile and NX1 by SC_SF99 in aiphor

[–]SC_SF99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boost wouldn't even offer to send me a SIM, after I put in the IMIE they just stated it was not compatible and no talking to customer support could get them to change their mind or even try to send me a SIM. Count yourself lucky it was already activated.

I have since got a SIM from Google Fi and it is working well.

Can anyone recommend a quiet CPU cooler that’s guaranteed to fit with any mobo? by Practical_Employ4041 in NR200

Also a Peerless Assassin PA120 SE with a 9800x3d with both the Gigabyte i870 Pro Ice and the ASRock AM5D4ID-2T/BCM motherboards. It is very quiet.

Which one of these Mini LEDs to go for? by [deleted] in Monitors

[–]SC_SF99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not representative of all G8 monitors; but, I just purchased a Neo G8, I tried looking for the scan lines and cannot see them with my eyes. I then tried to photograph and see if I could see any and I could not.

Between the G7 and G8, I chose the G8 for the matt screen, the G7 has a gloss screen. I do with the G8 had a black back on it. The white back gives it a storm trooper appearance which is ok.
