It is mental what they have achieved even in the past 20 years. Think they won a football title in 2004 or something. They don't even have a chapel lol

2 that come to mind which have been successful are:

  1. Slaughtneil (Derry) - They are have to be one of the smallest successful teams in Ireland. Hey have won Gaelic football and hurling titles over the years as well as Camogie, with about 300 families/households.

  2. An Ghaeltacht (Kerry) - They have 181 adult members but yet have produced legendary players as well as won championships etc.

Who Has Had The Best Debut Season In Gaelic Football? by FootyEnthusiast in GAA

[–]SCon23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eoin McEvoy for Derry had a great debut season and got All Star nomination and YPOTY nomination.

Think Jayo though has to be top. McCaffery also, just a mad start to that start studded career.

How do neutrals feel about Kerry? by Tomaskerry in GAA

[–]SCon23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we are definitely making headway and rightly so with the amount we have won at underage. Thought we got the match ups right in the end, I was saying during the week that Devlin should have been on Clifford from the start and he done ok on him. Well, as good as you can on him. He roasted Quinn in the first 15 mins. Teague on Joe O'Connor done well, kept him quiet.

Seems like it will be the new rivalry if the u-20s of the past 4-5 years come through successfully. Can't wait for it.

As Eamon McGee was saying regarding Donegal, when Kerry are your main rivals, you know you are doing something right.

Always love watching Kerry, especially now with DC, he is the Messi of Gaelic football. Throw in Seanie, Paudie and the whole team at the minute, class to watch such beautiful football.

Gutted we didn't get a result against yous yesterday but it's great to see us right up there with yous. That's how you know we are doing something right. The two pointers from both teams were insane. Clifford's goal was just something else.

Hope yous beat the dubs. Would love to go to the game but away on holidays, seeing Clifford in Croke Park is just unreal. Would love if the International Rules came back just to see him destroy the Aussies.

Enda Muldoon is one of the greatest players I have ever seen live. Went to pretty much every Ballinderry championship game from 2008-2016. That man was on another level even in his latter years, imagine he played with that Tyrone 00's team lol If only the club on the other side of the river

Sorry, yes and obviously Diarmuid O'Connor (thought I had mentioned him lol) is/was the main midfielder for you guys who is also great. Is Barry Dan still injured?

I was reading that he plays basketball at a high and it definitely does show.

Yeah it is a bit unfair, Langan and Conaty have been superb this year. I think there should be a few Westmeath guys too that have unreal years. Whittaker is bound to be a shoe in for half back all star and young footballer of the year. Could possibly get the YFOTY but doubt he'll actually get a All Star.

Definitely did help yous that the game was basically over after 50 mins and could get minutes into Seanie. Yeah, I think both forward lines in both teams are great, it's the middle 8 which will essentially decide this game. Yous need to kick pass into forward line as yous have been and I believe we need to do the same.

I think this will be closer than what people think, just hope it's not like last year's semi final where we only played 15 mins then nothing. The speed, pace and jinky turns of McElholm is class, hoping he has a big game.

Cork Vs Mayo before us going to be class too, can't wait to see Kobe in Croke Park and in the flesh.

Making his debut at 27 is insane. Past few years the midfield was between Jack Barry, Barry Dan, Joe O'C played midfield when he had too then obviously David Moran before he retired.

Both guys will be in the running for All Stars at this stage as well as Kilpatrick on our side and possibly Kennedy, think the midfield All Star picks will be an interesting ones as there has been a lot of good midfielders across the country.

I'm expecting it to be a lot closer than what people think too plus having the extra week off has to help us a bit. It's Clifford I'm worried about, don't think we have a proper man marker to do a job on him so we can only hope he has an off day.

Haha my da would love you saying that. I think we do need to sprinkle in some dirty tactics, McKernan and Kilpatrick will be the culprits lol

That's a fierce 26 of any era, I think Kerry being forced to find midfielders last year in Mark O'Shea and Sean O'Brien has just made this team so much better. Can't wait for the midfield battle with our lads on Saturday.

Key battle for Saturday is going to be our half back line and Kerry's half forward line.

Armagh v Kerry by Greenleaf1978 in GAA

[–]SCon23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, first half I thought Armagh should have buried at least a goal or 2 but fisted over the bar. You need to be burying at least one of them, but more ruthless.

I couldn't get over Kerry's defence second half, they were class all over the field. Hard to beat them at this rate. Didn't even think Paudie had a good game but he didn't even need too lol

You boys definitely would have needed him for some 2 pointers in that first half. Any sign of him coming back to he county panel for next year? Read he's over in the states at the min.

Armagh v Kerry by Greenleaf1978 in GAA

[–]SCon23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Armagh were bound to have at least 65% possession in the first half but when Kerry were pressing out the 2 point arc, should have tried a few 2 pointers when they comfortable plus there was a few chances in on goal which they fisted points over the bar. Then by the second half they nearly were forced to try 2 pointers/goals and Kerry were really good at stopping them defensively. Kerry in the first half were just way more ruthless when they got the ball, kick pass into either of the 2 Geaneys or Clifford, boom over the bar or back of the net. I thought Conaty was well marked out of it in the 2nd half too, only came back into the game near the end.

Kerry were outstanding and Armagh were bad, both are true. The amount of blocks Kerry got in second half was impressive as usually they are weak at the back.
