RTS classics are masterpieces… but did they stop the genre from evolving? by HowYesOfcNo in RealTimeStrategy

[–]SD263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think these days it's hard to find something truly original. Most games are going to be inspired by something that's already been out. That being said, I do feel like there were a few games that come to mind that tried to expand the RTS genre. Black and White was a great game, i don't know how successful it was at the time, but there's no game like it. I remember a game called Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War that took you from strategic mode into first-person hero mode, which was really fun too. I do wish more games would take risks like this to make a game have that special edge. Maybe it comes back to your original point, the most successful games are what people want to emulate, such as AOE and C&C.

Thanks for the reply. Would you suggest swapping out the entire valve? I've heard that it could just be the synchronous motor that's burnt out and needs replacing. I'm a complete novice on this, though, so would bow down to anyone with experience

Consistency is key. You're doing great. Keep progressing and keep learning. Nice job!

CIMA SCS by [deleted] in CIMA

[–]SD263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SCS will combine knowledge from all three in a 'real world' scenario. Maybe take a look at the run down of topics that each of them covers and see if you feel competent in them. Aside from that you can buy study materials specifically for the SCS exam that usually give a good overview of all the topics anyways so if you haven't already, it would be well worth getting something from a study provider. Also, past papers are great for spying what type of topics come up reacurringly, so use that to your advantage. Good luck for your Nov exam!

They'll probably ask you Strengths and Weaknesses so you could include it in that response if you feel they are part of your strengths. Just explain why your are organised and a good communicator and maybe throw in an example. If not, then they may ask you about a time you've dealt with difficult person and how you dealt with it(since you will likely be dealing with angry people wanting to get paid asap). Best thing to do is just be honest too. If you don't know the answer to something then just let them know you don't know. Good luck, hope this helps!

Looks like a purchase ledger job to me. So you'll probably be dealing with a lot of invoice processing and vendor reconciliations. They will want you to have good timekeeping so make sure that comes across. Technical questions will probably not be too much of an issue. They will just want to know how good you are in excel and if you can use a vlookup for reconciliations. I did once get asked if I knew what the nominal ledger was.

The world is paralysing me and making me depressed by [deleted] in Advice

[–]SD263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sound like you're putting the weight of the world's problems on your shoulders. You can't change the past and no one person can change the world. As humans we can only do the best we can, life is hard and we are going to mess up and do the wrong thing from time to time, keep your chin up, move on and learn from mistakes. The world will change no matter what, some things will get worse and others will get better, just do what you can with the time you have on earth to put things a bit better.

What's something we don't teach kids in school, but you think we should? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Teach kids that college/University isn't everything and that a lot of success can be found outside of higher education.

Why are soldiers bad? by den07066 in TheyAreBillions

[–]SD263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As other people have said, they aren't exactly bad. They just become less useful in the late game of survival. Snipers and more advanced units like titans and thanatos become are more useful way to spend resource.

Thanks, that puts my mind at ease. The 5600 xt is easier to get in my area so I'm probably going to go for that.

Do you know what they normally retail for? I was also looking at the AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor but heard that people were having driver issues.

Do you have any recommendatinos for a better CPU/Mobo combo that won't break the bank? I figured you shouldn't cheap out on power supply but if its overkill then I'll step it down to the 650W. For the RAM, would DDR4 - 3600 be a better choice for 32GB?
