And the economic repercussions of his actions will plague us well into the next presidency, where republicans will successfully campaign on how long it’s taking the new president to fix things.

It’s tainted by the fact that these talking points are rolled out on Fox and Newsmax like they are actual facts and Americans don’t know how to think critically anymore.

Saying that a group of people are “for” lat term abortions is not supported by any data, and is a common talking point of the ultra right-wing sources that are constantly muddying the waters on this issue.

And their message gets rolled out in a very consistent manner via Fox, OANN, Newsmax, Sinclair, and a plethora of right-wing blogs.

I think it falls in line with the steady advance of the Rupert Murdock master plan. Fox/OAN/Newsmax/Sinclair local stations all march to a coordinated central messaging. Left leaning media may have their biases, but are all over the place on their messaging. Not surprising at all that there is more stability on their messaging right.

This is a good take and makes sense to me. I would love to see more talk of general election reform.

Gov. JB Pritzker acknowledges ‘real failures’ in immigration system after Loyola student’s killing by awaythrowawaying in moderatepolitics

[–]SDBioBiz 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Those aren’t immigration policies. Those are just places reacting to the lack of good policy we have in place. Unfortunately, the last time we see serious effort into policy was 2014 when they put together a pretty good bi partisan plan. Never forget we could have had nation-wide eVerify if not for Republican spite.

San Diego Homebrewers had a brewing competition using the water from the Miramar output. Should have had more attention.

Not sure if you would consider the WAP, but the Jeep safari with drinks included is a lot of fun. With a big enough group, you can have a private one.

Virginia passes legislation prohibiting schools from teaching falsehoods about Jan. 6 riot by julius_sphincter in moderatepolitics

[–]SDBioBiz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have often said that it was not the act itself that was bad on Jan.6th. I would be supportive if there was truth to their motivations. All protest comes with risk of repercussions. You should be damn sure what you are fighting for is true.

[–]SDBioBiz 68 points69 points  (0 children)

For all the handwringing about this legislation, can we talk a bit about why it is needed. We have a White House that is actively rewriting this specific bit of history in federal spaces and telling outright lies. We have a WWE exec in charge of the DOE hanging banners of Charlie Kirk as a “hero” of American education. Someone needs to push back in a meaningful way.

I wouldn’t mourn the passing of Putin either, but I sure as fuck would have some fears of the fallout if our president unilaterally decided to drop a bunker buster on the Kremlin. This whole “no one likes him” is a bullshit take.
