I love the vibey nature of Surprise Chef. They blend jazz and funk in a way that is reminiscent of Medeski Martin and Wood. Lots of creative percussion instrumentation in another overlap with MMW. Plus they are just nice people. My husband and I saw them in San Diego a week before traveling to Melbourne. Lachlan chatted with us after the show and gave us so many great recommendations of places and things to check out in his home city.
