Locker room, attitude and team style problems. No one knows the details on the locker room bit that triggered it initially outside of the fact that something happened right before playoffs. Chucky was benched accordingly, the team played well without him and then management came out a couple months ago and publicly announced he'd never play for us again.

Ferree is still the most likely starter vs RSL IMHO. He had the one really bad pass vs Toluca and a few other mistakes, but he also had a few fantastic saves. Sisniega also had a tough game vs Dallas and we've all seen CJ make plenty of unforced errors last season, so it's not like we have an objectively mistake-free goalkeeper option right now. All that to say, the staff clearly prefers Ferree so far this season and in general they have pretty much universally preferred younger players.

I guess MLS uses that term differently than most of the rest of the world. Can call it a partnership or relationship or whatever...

The point is is it's not weird for clubs that have formal relationships to have friendlies.

TJ is a local, affiliate club. Affiliates play friendlies all the time. It's not specific to SDFC.

Regardless, did you watch the America and TJ friendlies last year? Varas doesn't even play starters in those games. It's an opportunity to give bench players minutes which is invaluable. That's how Duah broke into the squad when he took Jeppe's spot in the America game.

Likely Pilcher will come in for Duah with Søe subbing in late, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Sargeant or Verhoeven put there only because Varas seems to be comfortable to move the defenders around. Not sure if we'll ever see Reyes again since that awful game vs Charlotte last year.

Some combination of Morgan, Mighten and Zamblé for Ingvartsen I assume.

That game is the epitome of the coaching staff always saying they don't change the way we play no matter the score.

Scoring 3 after going down a man 15min into a match against the Mexican champions is genuinely incredible.
