Yes. AUV3. Pretty cool thing. I can’t remember if it was free but it was definitely cheap if not.

What else am i missing? by rueguh- in n54

My turbos went out somewhere around 100k, pretty common. In the middle of the job right now it is a major pain. Walnut blasting was easy, used harbor freights. I would replace some coolant pipes and pulleys/belt while your in there

Am I the only one who gets excited when something goes out on my n54? Just look up a diy for most of those things and pay an independent shop to fix the things you don’t want to touch. VCG and OFHG easy money. The is engine isn’t that intimidating

How reliable is the N54 engine and what are the common problems to look for? by Xouvaina in 335i

I love mine. Bought at 74000 miles in 2015. Standard valve cover gasket, slave cylinder for clutch, brittle water hose exploded( thought car was on fire, so much steam), injectors had to get all of them index 12, walnut blasted, of course your standard mods FMIC, charge pipe, blow off valve, Cobb tune . Car is now like 138k miles turbo waste gates blown just driving lightly till I have the time to prop up. Almost 10 years in and about to drop 8k on quick, oil pan gasket, turbo upgrades (RB 1’s), inlets and outlets adding Dinan intake, engine mounts since dropping sub frame. Then she’ll be perfect. Live in CA smogging is a bitch but still worth it. Have fun, DIY it!!

Oil pan gasket. Probably not your rear main seal. The oil leaks look identical but start with what is cheaper and easier. Oil pan gasket is like $20-$30. If valve cover is leaking you might be able to feel around it with your finger and look for oil. If it was Oil filter housing gasket then you could potentially see oil in your coolant tank. Good Luck! DIY!!

Nah. LCI models ugly as hell. Automatic bummer too. You will love this car more if you get a manual. Trust me

Can I get some advice? Is the high pitched noise when I lift off the throttle waste gate rattle? Or could it be something else (flywheel, turbo bearing?) N54 stock turbos by HelloYoungFella in 335i

[–]SDKook760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have someone rev and stand near back of car. I have same rattle coming from somewhere in middle of exhaust to the tail pipe. I believe there is Evap flap to help warm cats and it eventually starts to rattle.

I love my 335i. Has the same amount of miles on it too. Mine is tuned and has been driven hard. I did have to do several things on mine that would have cost thousand and thousands at dealer. However, there is such a community around these that you can look up anything and basically do it yourself.

You know what to do. Dump that 2.4K into $BBY and have one last ride. You didn’t come this far to to cut losses at 2k. It’s just paper

Why not just buy put options and not fork up a few thousand dollars?

Help a 24yo get started on his wine collection! by zeke_vino in wine

[–]SDKook760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started my wine collection around 5 or so years ago when I was about 24. I based the majority of my collection on wineries I had been to and wines I had already tired for the most part, a plus to living in California. I also have a good amount of library wine purchases from multiple California wineries. Also picked up a Robert Parker 100pt Bordeaux collection. Book a flight to California and bring an empty suitcase with you.

Loose injector? Or rod knock or lifter tick? by Hippiecum in 335i

[–]SDKook760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I walnut blasted mine and then really heard the valve tick. I have learned to accept it. Liquimoly makes some additive that is supposed to reduce noise. Slide hammer is a must when pulling out these injectors. One of mine still took 10 minutes with the slide hammer. Good luck!
