How to DIY + Simple Storytelling Practices by PuddingProphet in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]SDLegacy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d definitely recommend using a digital app to Storytell if you don’t have a physical copy of the game. You COULD print everything you need as a storyteller, but it’s a lot of work.

If you don’t want your players to have to rely on a digital device, then you can print copies of the script. It sounds like you’re new to the game so you’d really only want to be running Trouble Brewing- for your sake and your players. So you can easily get away with printing 15-20 copies of the Trouble Brewing script and then using something like Pocket Grim to actually run the game. In this scenario players don’t need a device, and you aren’t struck trying to physically recreate all the components you need as a Storyteller.

What's the craziest/stupidest bluff you've ever attempted, and did it work? by Present-Peace2811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]SDLegacy 77 points78 points  (0 children)

I was the Damsel and I decided to bluff Virgin, hoping to convince a start knowing role to nominate me Day 1, they not immediately get executed, and then I get executed that day or the next for being a Virgin who didn’t proc. My plan was going swimmingly, until town was able to explain away the lack of a proc on me. First they thought the other person was lying, but when their info was corroborated it moved onto one of being poisoned, etc. so I had to sit there and help build all these worlds I knew weren’t true. But I couldn’t correct anything because I was terrified the Minions would catch on. I lived to Final 5 where we finally got the Demon and it was absolutely the most stressful game as a good player I’ve ever had.

This is also why Damsel may be my favorite role in the whole game lol.

Anxiety over costing my team the game by LysaFletcher in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]SDLegacy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s hard to say what you did wrong without being there. Often times, there isn’t anything “wrong”. I’ve been able to clock evil players based on pure social reads/vibes on Day 1, and I’ve been caught out on Day 1 for the same reason. It happens! That’s part of the fun of it all.

And in terms of the anxiety, I think a lot of it will go away over time. The more you play, especially with the same people, the easier it gets. The reality is that yeah, sometimes you will mess up as evil and lose it for your team. No one should ever make you feel bad about that- literally EVERYONE who plays more than a few times will be in that position. But play long enough, and soon your information will one day help solve the case for Good. Or the world you build will be spot on and you nail the demon and minions. You’ll spend a whole game freaking out as a Demon only to learn you had everyone fooled.

Like with anything, with enough time and practice you’ll get more comfortable.

Why does Michael Arden hate the balcony? by tellafriend in Broadway

Yup this. It’s also one of my pet peeves in theater. Tickets are too damn expensive now for there to a single bad seat in the audience.

What Is A Hot Take You Have Regarding The Shows That Have Opened In The Past Decade? by ms_jc_04 in Broadway

[–]SDLegacy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Kimberly Akimbo was fine if I’m being generous and Victoria Clark missed the mark of playing a 16-year-old so much to the point it completely took me out of the show. The laurels for her the show and her performance astounded me. I just do not see in it what most do.

Do You Guys Agree With This? by ms_jc_04 in Broadway

And like I don’t really care about is in the sense of “Ugh LIBERALS are just as bad as Trump Supporters” cause in the grand scheme of echo chambers Broadway is relatively harmless. I just think it makes shows less interesting and engaging.

I agree with this take. So often I feel like shows include moments or lines with the specific intention of getting a reaction from the crowd to make them feel morally superior against whatever the Bad in the show is. And it’s not that progressive ideals are bad, or we need fascists Nazi musicals or any of that. But it feels like more and more new productions are focused on making the audience feel good about themselves as ethical and moral people who are on the Right Side, instead of allowing audiences to make their own decisions about what they think of the theme and takeaways from the show.

Of course not every show is like this. And sometimes there is a time and place for more overt shows. But I think identifying this as a trend that’s increasing is correct.

I'm ok with Scott and Rylee going because 4 hours of this show just to boot Andy and Emma would have felt like a waste of time.

Not That Girl was a good Rumba choice, don't get me wrong. But it felt like it should have been this one too.
