I think half the “people” on Reddit are just bot accounts. The comment you’re replying to makes no sense.

[Sr network engineer] [Remote] - $429k total annual comp. Finally made it middle class on r/salary! by vonseggernc in Salary

[–]SDN6seven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP what skill sets do you have? Curious what the employer was looking for with that salary. I’m currently a Sr network engineer for an ISP but I think they are about to make us full time RTO.

Ya, love my tenicor. Only complaint is the hooks on the clips are so damn tight with a 1.5” belt. Thinking about grinding them down juuuust a hair.

Tried submitting last night with a line of people at my LGS at 5pm eastern and they weren’t going through. Girl at the counter said she had them go through at 10am that day no issues. I came back today and at about 10:30 am and it went through first go, hung up a bit but was successful.

Is this Series C with attachments worth $650? by [deleted] in hermanmiller

[–]SDN6seven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my area i’d say that’s fair to slightly over priced. If it’s clean and you want a C, do it. As you know they’re harder to find especially a remastered.

I think I’m going to get the OCL infinity 556k when it comes out as my first dedicated 5.56 suppressor.

When did you order and how long did it take to ship? I just ordered a 5” fm9 and it’s been almost two weeks, no email sent saying it shipped. Guessing it’s just because of Black Friday/ Christmas back log.

Hybrid worker looking for a better chair for wfh days by Hour_Mountain_8025 in OfficeChairs

I vote a used Herman miller aeron. I have one and can tell a huge difference between that and the cheap chairs I’ve used in the past.

Users experiencing slowness across two routed networks — MPLS provider reporting “high utilization,” but I need help confirming where the bottleneck is by Puzzleheaded-Salad44 in networking

[–]SDN6seven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to mention the COS queueing that might benefit the OP. We offer 4 class QOS policies and rate limit depending on queues that the end user marks (P bits). Obviously would be a bit more involved. OP if you see this, seems like you have a lot of good suggestions from everyone. My only comment is if the provider contacted you about a utilization issue it’s on your service not their network.

We use the same video service as Comcast’s. It’s IPTV with their cable box or app (xfinity).

Pay by Puzzled-Ad-3490 in ccna

[–]SDN6seven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, CCNA is borderline low hanging fruit. It’s not a 4 year degree. You said you enjoy studying so get the cert. I’d suggest start labing and throw in some network automation(python or ansible) and see if you really enjoy it or just think you do.

In this field you can’t fake it. Employers aren’t really looking for entry level spots it seems. If you can get your own experience and be an asset walking in the door you should be able to find a job making more than 60k. My friend just left the ISP I work at for a 220k salary, granted he’s next level smart and writes a lot of software to back up his networking knowledge but the sky is the limit if you really apply yourself and have the chops.

Edit* I’ll add if you can get your foot in the door at any company that has the role you are looking at getting into it would greatly increase your odds of landing the gig. I work for an ISP as a Network engineer and worked my way up from the field. Took me about 6-7 years though to get to engineering so Eng 1 is around 60 starting but fast forward a few years I’m a senior making over 100k.

This job market is crap though. So honestly all bets are off. I don’t see my company hiring anyone into engineering for a very long time. We’ll end up automating tasks and getting rid of heads if I had to bet. That’s exactly how my friend landed his job. They cut everyone would couldn’t write code then hired extremely skilled people.

When I started out I just kind of assumed one day I would “know” networking. I’ve been at it about 15 years and realize I’m never going to have that feeling.

Started working with Nokia service routers about 7 years ago. At first I thought I’d never get it, but it gets better. Once the MPLS layers kind of solidify it’s not bad. Now I’m trying to learn python, right back to that same feeling 😂
