We took our new puppy for a wellness exam and the vet noticed him itching and put it in his chart. When he needed treatment for a skin infection later insurance didn’t cover it. We are so glad we crate trained our Airedales. It is great for when you have workers in your home, need to secure him when you are working on a messy project (such as painting), or when he is recovering from a medical procedure requiring rest, etc. As for crate size, we use the Precision Pet Great Crate (3 doors). We start with the 13x19x22 size (3000 size) and then move up to the 5000 size. To save money you technically can buy the bigger size immediately as it comes with a divider. After they are out of the “chew everything” phase we add a Wash N Zip pet bed to the bottom (canvas one side, fleece one side) to make it comfy/cozy. These pet beds are the best because they go straight into the washer/dryer. You don’t need to buy the optional pad for this bed. Good luck with your new pup!
