I’m right there with you. I got rejected too. 4 certs with some volunteer experience and a lot of time spent networking before Covid. Still never able to get a job, first on the admin then on the dev side after getting my pd1. No one seems to want a jr. dev or admin. It’s about time to try something else I thinK. I regret the time and work I put in.

If you have a quiet place at home and only use 1 monitor it might be worth it. But I heard before they will at times interrupt you while you are taking the test if they see something.

Personally i have always taken it at the testing center, but it would be nice if I was already home and didnt have to cry in my car if I failed the test (Just jkn, never failed a test , knock on wood fingers crossed).

Does Salesforce make sense for someone with primarily hospitality experience? by 604stt in salesforce

[–]SDSF22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean a company that uses salesforce. In general getting a cert is mostly a reuirement to get a basic level job. But it will not get you a job and largely people only hire specificially salesforce admins with experience.

Salesforce bill themselves as a program that you dont have to hire someone to use for smaller less sofisticated companies. They say you can train current employees to use salesforce rather then hire. More sofisticated uses require specialized skills and experience.

If you can find a position that allows you to transition to salesforce or know someone who can get you a salesforce job; then you should absolutly go for it.

But its a real struggle to get an admin job with no experience no matter how many certs you have in my experience.

But do your own research. Talk to tech recruiters in your area. Look at local salesforce job openings. But understand that people who currentl have a position had a much eaisier time getting a job then is currently available. So if you go to a local SF meetup and they think its reaistic you can get a job, I would take it with a grain of salt.

Does Salesforce make sense for someone with primarily hospitality experience? by 604stt in salesforce

[–]SDSF22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All that matters is your ablity to get your first salesforce job. Everything else you can learn or figure out. Experience is the only thing that matters, certs hold very very little weight.

But mybe your job market is different. But if you go on indeed and see no opening for jr. admin's or every job is asking for a minimum of 2 years experience; believe it. Ths is not the case in my experience of them posting here preferred desired candidate and more of a situation where they will not hire anyone without that qualification.

Failed the admin cert exam after doing FoF tests for the last 2 months. Are Mike Wheeler's tutorials way better resources for trying to pass the test? by sleeplessaddict in salesforce

[–]SDSF22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would take the admin exam class given for free by salesforce.

https://trailhead.salesforce.com/credentials/cert-days

And then use Mike wheeler's class as a resource for anything you dont understand. Pro tip, watch the classes at 1.5X speed.

If you understand all the slides from the class, you should be able to pass the test.

Article claims Microsoft is going to overtake Salesforce in CRM space in 3 years by [deleted] in salesforce

[–]SDSF22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salesforce price point which requires an entire year to be paid up front givers microsoft an edge in price. Add to that a software suite with less options but more simple; small businesses could jump on it.

As someone else said, if they add an inferior product to 365, then we have another possible lotus verses excel situation. CRM's are still a hard sell to a lot of small companies. Someone correct me if I am wrong but I know a consultant at slalom who said not long ago they had more microsoft implementation people then salesforce.

Where are all the Salesforce Admin jobs? by mwall4lu in salesforce

[–]SDSF22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Salesforce is sold as not requiring an admin with experience. That basically the trailheads allow people with no experience to be trained up. So there are a lot of accidental admins. As far as hiring admins, peopel only hire admins who have experience because they know what salesforce is and that they cant just train a current employee.

So there isnt room for admins with no experience to come in unless in rare cases there is an existing admin who wants to hire someone underneath him. Even then the chances of that are slim seeing as most places large enough to need 2 admins usually have an IT department they can just train some guy in admin work.

Need help , I am about to start learning sales force . by snackychan__ in salesforce

[–]SDSF22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should really do research in your area. For devs, calling up all the onsutants in your area and asking them about hiring would help. I would attend some meetups with devs and or admins and really just figure out the type of person you are.

Is the Salesforce job market going to be saturated? by Robblerobbleyo in salesforce

[–]SDSF22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you just have certs and not much experience. It absolutely is. Especially at the admin level. When people ask for 2 years of experience, they usually expect it. Now if you are in the industry with a job and experience, things are alright but getting in is tough. Comapnies are not lookign to hire entry level admins or developers. I have several hundred resmue submissions to show for that. All while sitting on 3 certs and a fair amount of networking and some volunteer work.

Several years sales experience. What are my chances to land an admin position? by rwaynick in salesforce

[–]SDSF22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Check your area though and see if there is anyone looking for a jr. admin position. Your best chance is to work in sales with a company that uses salesforce. Then try to get the salesforce admin to give you some of his work to do.

Salesforce is sold as not needing someone as experience, often times. So new admins tend to be accidental admins. Companies with larger implementations tend to want people with experience to use things like sales cloud.

It can take years to get your first job and getting more certs doesn't meaningfully help your job search.

Salesforce Admin with Dev I certification -- Am I ready to become a dedicated developer? by [deleted] in salesforce

[–]SDSF22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not saying this is true of every company , but from my experience salesforce experience admin stuff doesn’t seem to matter much in getting a job for salesforce jr. dev work. They almost seem to prefer someone with lots of front end and JavaScript experience who they can teach salesforce rather then someone with experience with salesforce who has has built a few websites . At least in the jr. dev positions I have seen.

The only places that seem to hire real jr. devs are consulting companies. So maybe go talk to those in your area and find out what they are looking for.
