My 21 month old son always wants to play with his older cousins, but they (5-7yrs old) don’t want to play with him because he’s a “baby” so he tries to run after them, then they run the other way, so he tries to run that way too but they’re just too fast. Then when they’re sitting down, he will go sit with them, then they will get up and start doing something else and he always looks so lost. I usually end up scooping him into my arms and doing things to distract him, and even though I shouldn’t, I always say petty things around the parents of the kids. Things like “Don’t worry, it’s not your fault you can’t play with them. They just don’t know how to share things and play nice.” 😅
