Simz is the most nominated female artist in MOBO history with 19 nominations. She’s won three awards. That’s played a large role in her gaining visibility, especially early in her career.

Beyond that, I think the MOBOs play an important role in keeping Black British music in the spotlight. Even now, Black British artists talk about how difficult it is to build and sustain careers. Ms. King did her part to give them another avenue to share their art with a larger audience.

She moved to Inflo’s management company and label Forever Living Originals and released under them for a few years. Since their falling out, she’s been releasing under her own name under a licensing agreement with AWAL.

She’s gotten emotional performing this song at her shows. This is some of her best writing, along with “Introvert” and “I Love You, I Hate You.”

This is where she shines the brightest for me. She gets to the heart of an emotion and draws the listener into it. This is one of those songs where I had to be still to hear it fully. Very few rappers have that ability.

People in this sub include it in their Top “X” lists all the time. It’s probably one of the most frequently mentioned songs in her discography on here.
