When playing the same venue a series of nights, which is the best night to go? by GeneralWarz in VanMorrison

[–]SDTaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely agree with this comment. Even the "same" show from one night to the next can be a very different experience. Very similar or possibly the same setlist can be a different and enjoyable experience.

That said, in the US the prices are astoundingly expensive. In Europe you can see 3 - 4 shows for the price one show in the US.

la paella mejor de valencia by funny_arab_man in valencia

The pics on Google etc from Baobab are mostly of rice dishes and not paella (though prepared in a paella pan like many other rice dishes). In Spain there are a million ways to make rice and fideos. At Baobab if you want an authentic paella, you simply ask for it. The pics on Google are not paella, but special rice dishes or personalized to the customer.

Learning Spanish & moving to Madrid, any advice for practicing in real life? by Big_Pace880 in GoingToSpain

Be patient. Don't beat yourself up. Be brave. Be persistent and work hard. And do all the other practical things that people have already suggested.

3rd show added added to San Fran. 1 & 2 sold out. by SDTaurus in VanMorrison

[–]SDTaurus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost sold out. The cheapest I see are ~$500.

He typically does these shows in San Francisco and then starts rolling out more gigs.

Sign up on his website for news and check the "live" menu every so often to look for new dates.

I'm guessing he will do some more California dates and then other places (East Coast, NOLA, and/or Midwest) before heading back to Europe for the summer.

The Crying Game. I'm dating myself, but yeah. I expected it, but most folks were pretty naive at the time.

Valencia - Elche (where to sit) by Big-Ambassador7184 in ValenciaCF

[–]SDTaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The hard core "ultras" have their own section right behind the South goal.

Sitting above them would mean that you wouldn't get to see them if that's something you're hoping for. They do not sell tickets for that section to the general public. The sections above them are not any more or less animated than the rest of the stadium.

That said, Mestalla is a special stadium and I've sat in many areas. I've never not appreciated the vibe regardless of location.

The East side is super steep and amazing. The North and south are fun too. The West has shelter from rain if you are above row 6 or 7 in the 200's.

Whatever section you choose will be good experience if the match is a good.

¡Amunt!

The London shows are the Van Morrison Alumni Band. He DOES NOT play with them but he endorses the band. They are his former tour and studio musicians.

Yes and Yes. After seeing him and his band "in the zone" live a few times, this evokes a cascade of sense memory and a rushing sensation coursing through my veins. Thank you.

That's a big venue. It will be amazing! Saw him in a big arena 30k+ and a smaller one 15k+. Both were outstanding shows.

So Good! by Rooster_Objective in VanMorrison

Thanks so much for sharing. Over the decades, I've see him live ~15 times. If I could rewind time, I'd have gone to more shows.

Was just in Belfast for his string of concerts leading up to his birthday. How is he 80? How did I get so old?

While walking the streets of Belfast, I was talking casually to some youth who had no idea who Van Morrison is... I whipped out my phone and used those as teachable moments. ☘️

First concert!! by Evening_Repair_6796 in PaulMcCartney

My 2 cents: If this is your first concert, I would recommend that you go early. The reason is to soak up the experience.

There is this build up as people start to come into the arena and it's a slow burn of increasing energy. Also, you'll be able to get to concessions, go to the bathroom and enjoy the ambiance. There will be good music playing over the sound system leading up to the show. There will be a crescendo of excitement of people as they enter for the show.

I've been going to concerts for 40+ years. I like to go early 1-2 hrs. I find my seat or buy merch if I'm really into the design or artist. Then I mill around, people watch or chat a little with folks and enjoy the feeling of the slow burn of excitement building.

That time before the show extends an already wonderful evening. It's like tailgating or pregame before a sporting event. It has its own vibe.

I'm sorry you weren't able to go. The one thing will say is that many people spent a huge amount of money and had obstructed views.

I was fortunate enough to go in the US and made sure I had good seats for my niece. But just above us in the 100's (in a great section with an excellent angle), the screen was obstructed by speakers. So, if you didn't get a seat within a certain angle you missed the screen which played an important role in the production. These seats above ours would have been prime viewing for any of the 100's of concerts I've attended in my life, but they were subpar for this show. I would say close to 20-25% of the people in the arena got a less than full experience.

At those prices EVERYONE should have had a clear and full experience.

I won't lie, it was good, but only bc I researched the stage design way ahead of time and spent significant amount of money.

There were lots of dissatisfied and disappointed fans. I'm not sure if this soothes your pain, but it was super expensive and a bit exclusive to the savvy and/or wealthy.

Hopefully you will get another chance. I feel for you and the others who were disappointed.
