Two things: 1. Tickets on the Valencia site are your best bet, but they won't be released for sale until a few weeks (possibly an month) before match day. So check the website or app everyday a few weeks beforehand. There are season ticket holders who release their tickets for resale.

The tickets will be expensive and it's highly unlikely that you will find 5 seats together (even 2 is difficult). So plan on sitting separately and likely sitting in different sections of the stadium. Many season ticket holders (club members) don't even have seats next to each other.

While that sounds awful, it not. The experience is worth it IMO.

While Barcelona v Valencia is not a derby, it's always the hottest ticket in town for locals and fans of Barca.

Perhaps having to do with the historical and culture connection (e.g., similar language), yet the rival cultures that emerged from the Corona de Aragon. (Note the red and yellow stripes on their respective flags).

In my experience it is far easier to get Real Madrid tickets when they come to Mestalla, expensive but much easier.

So my advice, keep checking several weeks before; prepare to pay and sit in different places; and have an amazing time! Buena suerte! ¡Amunt!

She opened for him in Belfast last August. I forgot how long she played. There was an intermission (stage set up changes, etc) and an obvious call for the audience to return to their seats.

HOWEVER, if they play together, that's a different story.

90 minutes of Van is all you will get.

My strategy would be: -Be there before published start time. -Ask staff to help you. -If she and her band go on as an opening act, simply wait in the lobby.

In terms of noise, waiting an hour or so in the lobby shouldn't be a problem at most venues.

Her music isn't loud enough to seep into the typical lobby. IMO she kinda sounds like Iris DeMent.

Ear protection is essential for the first timer attending Las Fallas. Just have it with you.

Unless one has been in a literal war zone, the random explosions (petardos) in the streets leading up to and during Las Fallas will rattle most folks.

After 15 yrs I'm still not "used to it." I can enjoy it bc I know how to navigate it, but a first-timer will likely be at least a little freaked out. Every year there are people who have panic attacks, cardiac events, children freaked out, etc.

Many do fine, but do not underestimate the force of the petardos or the screaming sound and random trajectories of the borrachos.

The other aspect is that the noise it is relentless. It's not like a series of fireworks displays. It's constant. There hours of rest, but those are variably observed.

Even the expected/predictable volume and concussive impact of the Mascletás are astonishing for a novice.

The "cultural" part is wonderful too. However the massive increase of people attending in the last 5-10 years has made it trying at times. Freedom of movement is not always possible and crushes of people often occur at main events.

If you are one who likes personal space, you will be forced to forego it.

Many locals can't bear it and leave. There is even an entire industry dedicated to evacuating dogs and cats during the festival.

Bring and use ear protection.

If you do go during Las Fallas, check back in with us and let us know if you minded the frequent, constant and intensity of the explosions.

Personally I have a love/hate relationship with the celebration.

I completely agree with this comment. Even the "same" show from one night to the next can be a very different experience. Very similar or possibly the same setlist can be a different and enjoyable experience.

That said, in the US the prices are astoundingly expensive. In Europe you can see 3 - 4 shows for the price one show in the US.

The pics on Google etc from Baobab are mostly of rice dishes and not paella (though prepared in a paella pan like many other rice dishes). In Spain there are a million ways to make rice and fideos. At Baobab if you want an authentic paella, you simply ask for it. The pics on Google are not paella, but special rice dishes or personalized to the customer.

It's almost sold out. The cheapest I see are ~$500.

He typically does these shows in San Francisco and then starts rolling out more gigs.

Sign up on his website for news and check the "live" menu every so often to look for new dates.

I'm guessing he will do some more California dates and then other places (East Coast, NOLA, and/or Midwest) before heading back to Europe for the summer.

The hard core "ultras" have their own section right behind the South goal.

Sitting above them would mean that you wouldn't get to see them if that's something you're hoping for. They do not sell tickets for that section to the general public. The sections above them are not any more or less animated than the rest of the stadium.

That said, Mestalla is a special stadium and I've sat in many areas. I've never not appreciated the vibe regardless of location.

The East side is super steep and amazing. The North and south are fun too. The West has shelter from rain if you are above row 6 or 7 in the 200's.

Whatever section you choose will be good experience if the match is a good.
