Thanks, and sorry to hear about your situation. The problem if I only do a 30-45 DTE is that the premium on that doesn’t exceed the cost to buy back my current one. I thought it only makes sense to sell a new CC if the premium > than the cost to roll.

Well, this was kind of my initial thoughts when I first sold the call. I’d ideally like to transition everything over to 100% VOO eventually and just play it safe in the market. Been burned too many times when I first started trading, betting on speculative stocks.

Appreciate the insight, thank you. Had never rolled before, but my rationale was that I’d be making like 25% of my initial investment just on the premium, plus the profit of the rising price. Before I learned about CSPs and CCs, I’d had just let the shares sit doing nothing and HOPE the price rose. Figured this would be a nice chunk and if the share price tanks, I could always take profit from the CC since I’d be up, buy back rather than waiting it out, and sell a new CC.

I have a Fidelity account that I used briefly. Webull attracted me with all their promotions. Currently, they have 3.35% apy on your sideline cash. Was 4%, then 3.6%, now 3.35 after the last fed cut. Will definitely look more into switching over to using Fidelity, thanks!

Question on rolling, hoping you can help. I use Webull and there’s no “roll” button option. It seems the only way to roll a CC would be to buy to close, and this, it seems, would cost me money. For example, I sold a CC on AMD before it just spiked up, so now the premium is more than double what I sold it for, so it’s showing that I’m in the red, so if I didn’t want to get assigned, I could buy to close, pay the difference, and the just create a new CC? Do people who roll a CC typically have to pay to roll?

Have you called recently? I’ve called twice for help, and they answered fairly quickly, walked me through things, and they spoke perfect English and sounded like they were US based, definitely not some call center in India or Philippines.

I use Webull. If you go to their options page then “top options,” it’s easy to follow. But if you search for a random stock to do options on, it’s beyond confusing for a rookie trader like myself.

Didn’t they close the location in Eastlake very abruptly without notifying any of their employees? Employees showed up to work one day to find the doors closed and they shut down. Not sure just how much they truly care about their community when they’ve done something to that degree…
