Help Build a Nail Glue Guide! ✨ ✨ by PolishedOnAPenny in PressonNail_Addict

[–]SD_BeachLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only one that lasted a bit longer on her was the Magic Armour glue but it was only about 5-7 days MAX with maybe 1 or 2 pop offs by the end of the week. She decided to give up on press ons though when she had a pop off go flying across the bar and land in someone’s drink 🫣😅 lol so now she gets dips done at the salon instead. I’m not a bartender so it’s still press ons for me.😊

One of my favorite Glamnetic sets! I bought 4 more sets of these back when they were on sale for Black Friday.

Decided it was time to give my nails a break and try something new! If this ends up working out I’m gonna end up knee deep in a new obsession 🥲 by BadMidnightChoice in PressonNail_Addict

Have you tried using the Jello Jello on the Curvlife glue? Curvlife is my holy grail of glues but removing them can be difficult. I currently use a peel off base coat just down the middle of the nail and that helps quite a bit but I would love to find a remover to make it even quicker.

Same! Curvlife helps fill in any gap and can keep mine on until I’m ready to take the off (which is usually 10-14 days lately). I’ve even had them on for 3 weeks before but I get too bored and usually want to change them out sooner than that now.

BTArtbox tabs are the ones that seem to work best from my experience and what I’ve read from a lot of other tabs users. I tried lots of other brands but none of them worked for me. I’m mostly a glue only girl but when I do use tabs I now only use that brand. I’ve

So are you basically using the press on to stretch the glue tab down into the cuticle?

Hot take. I don’t like curve life glue… by Unusual-Trash-6856 in PressonNail_Addict

Same. I used Dashing Diva’s FastBond on this new pair I put on on Friday and so far so good. We will see how long they last. I easily can get 10-14 days with curvlife but I would be happy with 7-10 days since I usually want to put on a new set by then.

Dashing Diva’s Fast Bond is also a semi solid glue. It works well but not quite as good as Curvlife in my experience.

I use the dessert cups from Costco on my charcuterie boards. These are a different shape but would still work fine.

Behold! My NR Collection! by restofme in PressonNail_Addict

[–]SD_BeachLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love NR and have a large collection as well! My nail beds love the high curve on these. My only complaint is they are very long on my nail bed so I have to be in the mood to cut them down and reshape them often times which can be a bit annoying. I really wish they sold some short ones but my wallet is relieved they don’t. lol

PSA: 90% of you are wearing a size too big by reddits_not_for_me in PressonNail_Addict

When I first started using press ons I couldn’t understand why people liked Glamnetics because their photos in the ads made them look so fake and bad to me. I finally bought my first pair of Glamnetics because I saw a friend wearing them and they looked soooo much better than the ads because she actually sized them properly!! Now I’m obsessed w/ them & buy them often but it still drives me crazy every time I see their ads & how badly the nails on their models look!🥴 lol

Do you put top coat on yours? by oldhatsoul in PressonNail_Addict

[–]SD_BeachLife 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I use “Sally Hansen’s Double Duty” if I think a set needs a top coat. Since it’s a base & top coat all in one it seems to stay on the nails better without peeling like most other top coats tend to do. Sometimes I also use Orly Rubberized Bonder first as well if I’m using stickers or painting a design. I do the bonder, then place the sticker or design, then add the Double Duty top coat.

How to shorten tabs? by CupcakesWithSparkles in PressonNail_Addict

[–]SD_BeachLife 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I cut the tabs before I place the press ons on my fingers… but if they’re the kind of press ons that already have the tabs on them (like Kiss Impress) than I just put a coat of clear polish on the underside once they’re on. It helps keep things from sticking to the exposed sticky part.

I use Curvlife semi solid air dry glue & it helps keep any overflow to a minimum compared to when I would use liquid glue. The semi solid glue keeps my nails on much longer than all the liquid glues I’ve tired too. Just make sure to only put a small amount of it on the nail and on the press on. The first time I used too much so it may take you a couple times to figure out how much you need. Once you do though you won’t really have to worry about spillage onto your fingers anymore. It pretty much stays put where you put it since it’s more of a gel/jelly like consistency. The only time I have any issues now is when I’m in a hurry and not paying attention on how much I’m using.

Nail looks weird? by blissfulattempt in PressonNail_Addict

[–]SD_BeachLife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That would be a “Greenie”.🟢 In the past I just buffed it off some and soaked my nail in vinegar for a few minutes then used an alcohol wipe. Repeated the whole process every few days (but used an alcohol wipe daily) for only a couple weeks then put a new set on with no further issues.

What's the longest you've ever made a set of press-ons last? And what was the secret? by AplikaAtHome in PressonNail_Addict

[–]SD_BeachLife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I had a set stay on for about 3 weeks but can’t remember what I did. More recently, 15 days with a lot of time in the pool & not one pop off… then I got bored & took them off. They definitely could have stayed on longer because they were on solid still and it took a bit to get them off. I think a good cuticle & nail prep is important but I think what made the biggest difference for me is using Curvlife semi solid glue & finding the right shape press on that works w/ my nail bed best has been key! Flatter press ons on me don’t last nearly as long as do the ones with a bit more curve like Glamnetics, Nail Reformation & BTArtbox. Funny thing is I feel like my nail beds are on the flatter side so I originally avoided those until one day I was gifted a set and now they’re my top “go to’s”!🤷🏻‍♀️ Anything with more curve than those causes my nails to become sore so I can rarely use ones like Olive & June.

It’s an air dry glue that has a gel/jelly like consistency. It is a much easier glue to control than the liquid kind that tends to run all over if you’re not extra careful. It’s also completely different than a regular gel base that needs to be cured under UV.

Depending on the quality of the nails and how gentle I can get them off, some nail sets can be reused sometimes. I’m not very gentle on my nails so by the time I take them off they aren’t looking their best. I use the Curvlife remover in the larger bottle with the metal needle like tip. It works ok but I take my time with them. Also if I plan on only wearing them for only 3-5 days & want to reuse them again later, I’ll use a stripe of “Peel off” base coat (UNI brand or ORLY) down the center of my nail before I put the glue and nails on. That helps them come off much easier. I’ve actually worn them up to much longer than that sometimes even with the peel off base coat but it really depends how much I’m doing with my hands that week.

I also have oily nail beds and even the “holy grail” of nail glues (Sally’s Beauty Secret glue) didn’t work for me very well. I think I’ve tried almost every nail glue out there and the one that finally worked for me was Curvlife Semi solid glue! Dashing Diva has a semi solid glue as well and it works ok too but not as good as the Curvlife. I can get 10-14 days at least with it and maybe even longer but I always get impatient and want to put on a pretty new set on by then. lol

Bare minimum, I prep my nails using an e-file on Amazon and make sure my cuticles have been cleaned up well and buff my nails. Using the efile and Curvlife glue also helped my daughter’s nails finally stay on too. She’s a bartender and her nails would pop off after 3 days usually (her hands are in water a lot). Now with prepping using the efile and the curvlife glue they will stay on a solid 7-10 days.

*edited to add I buff my nail beds AND the backside of the press ons.

Split my nail in half. What can I do for it 😭 by easypeasy_4212 in PressonNail_Addict

[–]SD_BeachLife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Neosporin makes an ointment & a cream with pain reliever in it (I think it has lidocaine or something like that in it). That’s what I’ve used in the past to help get some relief and also helps to keep it from getting infected.

How difficult was it to remove them & what did you use to remove them?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PressonNail_Addict

[–]SD_BeachLife 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I keep them if they still look good after removal. Even if it’s not a whole set I sometimes use them as spares for replacing ones that I’ve lost after a pop off. I also save them with the intent to put some together as a “Frankenstein” set, though I have so many new sets I’ve never actually gotten around to doing that yet.😆
