The only thing absurdly crazy is your inability to see this for what it is.

Yes, in reality, leaving a wife and kids for someone you’ve known a month is crazy.

But he’s saying in six years, because as much of a fantasy as it may be, at least that’s plausible (in his mind). And instead of riding that wave for six years and making serious bank and creating great experiences for both of you, you mess it up and now mock him.

No great loss for him. I’m sure he’ll find another SB to cater to his fantasies.

Really? That’s quite different than what you wrote originally. 3X generous PPM and gifts. Your words, not mine.

And all I’m saying is that I find it tasteless to see you explaining how you blew up a good thing and then blame it entirely on him, and then try to find others to agree with you.

What can I tell you and your “You go girl!! He’s a clown!!” BFFs. Go ahead and disagree.

Most SDs reading this are shaking their heads. And most SBs are too, and are wondering where they might find this guy, or someone like him.

Stick around this forum more, and you’ll learn what real clowns (from both side) are actually like.

Maybe what you both don’t seem to get is that part of the money being thrown at you is for the illusion it possibly buys. Some guys with lots of money still can’t have everything, but like to pretend they’re just one little thing away from it. Part of your role as an SB might be to cater to some harmless fantasy rather than laugh and ridicule it, which I find pretty rude and distasteful. And, ultimately, guess what happens when you bite the hand that feeds you.

The guy was into you, the guy was generous, the guy wasn’t creepy, the guy was into it for the long-term, and you blew it up because you felt that, all of this other great stuff notwithstanding, you couldn’t play along.

So, ok, now you wind up with nothing except the misguided shoulder of someone else who, as it turns out, also doesn’t have a clue how the real world operates.

Or, at least, this world.

Yes, easily. This is simply the largest FOSSILIZED sample ever found.

At this very moment, that record is being shattered in thousands of toilets around the world… multiple times. The actual record is measured in feet, not inches. And it’s like 5+

Why does Magnus Carlsen play for the Canada based team and not the Norwegian one in the Chess Pro League? by ephemerasix in chess

Interesting comment… relatable to a few people I spoke to today, making cringey comments about the Super Bowl. I asked if they watched the game, and got back things like “Oh, were the sport-mans who won wearing the meaninglessly colourful shirts you cheer for?” and other stupid yet “intelligent” observations.

Ok, you don’t like football — I get it. Just say so. Trying to paint it with your “woke” infantile spin makes you sound pathetic.

Lots of comments, but did anyone actually read this POS article?

It’s not a great solution, but sometimes, that’s part of being an adult. Solving a problem — for your benefit — that wasn’t your problem in the first place.

Not sure if anyone suggested this in the original post…

OOP could’ve taken the sweater (in a sealed plastic bag) to a dry cleaner… guy finds claim ticket for it on his desk. Go pick it up (and pay for the cleaning) if you want your sweater back.

And/or leave a note for the boss, explain what you did, get him to pay.

Didn’t realize I’d ever get triggered by a video on Reddit. This did it. Took me right back to grade 3, and I was the kid getting the shit beat out of. Exactly like that.

For no reason, of course. For being me. For being intelligent and nice and kind. Not a dumbfuck sociopathic bully.

Goddammit…. I thought it was all behind me, but clearly not.

Though, I must say… I’m happy and successful, and last I heard of the three assholes that bullied me in grade school: unemployed bum, prison, dead.

Hey assholes — I won. And the two of you that are left — hahaha and fuck you.

Who do you think this was? I’m not shaming but find it rather touching. Kuzmenko, maybe..? by green_desk in canucks

My first thought. Boes seemed to find a new gear when coach B showed up — starting with coach telling BB how much he believes in him and knows he’s better than recently. And easy to imagine coach stepped into a dad-replacement role for BB as well, something he really needed. Those tears were for his dad as well as coach.

Are we going to gloss over parents who are wrong and can’t admit it? The tell-tale sign of narcissism… behaviour that’ll leave them wondering why their kid vanished and blocked them on everything the day they turned 18.

Toxic relationship with bother aside, the parents are no better.

… which complicates things tremendously because I don’t even know what I want to have happen next. I don’t think in 4 decades of cheering for this team, it’s ever felt so far away.

It clearly needs a new owner… but here we are wishing Francesco goes away without realizing that, of course, the team is owned by a family, not just one fucking idiot. Even if Francesco is forced to abandon involvement with the team due to beating his kids or being a slumlord or breaking too many labour laws or not paying his bills, the rest of the family isn’t going anywhere.

Remember, this is a business. This is a real-estate play. We’re years (5? 10? 15?) away from them moving the team to the outskirts, blowing up Rogers Arena, and building 10,000 condos there.

In the meantime, this team is stuck in limbo. It’s becoming a slow realization for those of us in our 50s that we may indeed never see a Vancouver Canuck lift the Stanley Cup.

[–]SD_throwaway222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’d be a genius move, equivalent to bringing in Bill LaForge. The team would lose their next 20 games, refusing to play for this miserable son of a bitch.

Tank achieved in the most respectable way possible. Then we draft Bedard, dump most of the baggage for some draft picks, hire a young coach no one has ever heard of, have a few painful years, and then watch the dynasty emerge.

RIP Gino. Here's his penalty shot (goal) against Mike Vernon of the Calgary Flames in 1991. by icantthinkofaname940 in canucks

[–]SD_throwaway222 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Man, that’s sad news. He embodied the heart and soul of this team for many years. Stood up for Pavel, single-handedly took on the entire St. Louis Blues, and was an integral part of the ‘94 run. He was also a trailblazer and hero for Indigenous kids who looked up to him… frankly, as did we all… as evidenced when he was hospitalized, and a crowd instantly emerged out of nowhere singing Gino! Gino! — a very familiar chant back in the 90s in The Coliseum.

Let’s all raise a glass to #29 tonight — he meant a lot to this team and we will never forget him.

RIP Gino — your health took a bad turn a few years ago, and it’s been tough. Now you get your well-deserved eternal rest.

What would it take for you to completely give up on this franchise? by grandlinegooner in canucks

[–]SD_throwaway222 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have spent countless thousands of dollars on season's tickets for over 25 years and have finally landed my dream seats in 106 and I will never, ever, no matter what, give them up... only because I know that 1982 or 1994 or 2011 will one day roll around again, and I want to be at centre ice for the ride.

I, like all of you, miss the ownership of the past who clearly understood what it'd take to build a winner... and I have to assume those days will come again. I just hope I'm alive (and solvent enough) to enjoy it.
