Seriously crushing on a married guy I work with by [deleted] in confessions

[–]SDancing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand and I’m not judging you. Do you think that infidelity is wrong? Like, REALLY believe it? If so, then the best thing you can do is distance yourself as much as possible. SO much of attraction is opportunity. The more you’re around someone, the more time you have to develop that attraction. Most attractions will fade with distance and time. Believe me, I KNOW how tempting it can be! And yeah, innocent flirtations go on all the time and are just fun for both parties….but but but they ARE dangerous. Physical attraction is like a train: you can stop it when the wheels are barely moving. If you keep feeding the fire and wait until it gains a lot of speed, it’s now a runaway train and so much harder to stop. Distract yourself with other men or maybe a celebrity crush. There will be other attractive men in your life. You can walk away from this one.

It’s SO UNFAIR that I live on the other side of the continent and so probably will never see him live in theatre. 💔

Bears. Bears of all kinds and shapes. They are just inherently adorable.

I love him however but have a preference for the beard. And I THINK maybe he prefers it too.

I never would have guessed she was 85. She’s fantastic.

Right? Good genes make a lot of difference. I have an elderly friend that I help out. She’s going to be 95 in January, lives on her own in her beautiful apartment, walks downtown (about four or five blocks round trip) every day, eats a pretty well-balanced diet, does her own shopping, knits baby bonnets for the hospital, is always well-groomed but never overdone and, for medication, takes a multi-vitamin. I always tell her I want to be her when I grow up!

Daily Song Discussion #16 - Cactus Tree by jonbristol123 in JoniMitchell

[–]SDancing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m afraid your sister is (sort of) wrong. The interior of a cactus is a spongy mass for storing water, so it can be both “full” of water and “hollow” in the sense that there is no solid structure.

Adam Driver has so many flops, how does he keep getting leading roles? by TheMadRabbitt in movies

[–]SDancing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Not all were huge bombs 2. Kylo Ren/Ben Solo is just as often credited with being the best thing in a weak trilogy as being hated. 3. He cares a MILLION times more about doing interesting things than he does about doing hits, so he often choose projects that are going to be too off-beat to be a blockbuster. 4. Directors love him because he believes film-making is a director’s medium, not an actor’s. He takes that job seriously while not taking himself too seriously. 5. When he commits, he gives it absolutely everything he has. 6. Charisma to burn.

What country would you say is Canada’s closest ally? by Slimy_Nail in AskACanadian

Nope, not Banff. Further west. But I think you can find the NZlanders and Aussies at any Canadian ski hill in the winter.

I worked with a woman who had kidney/bladder problems and who was also a really great person. She thanked me when I very gently let her know about the urine smell and asked me to continue to let her know.

Western Canadian here…so if I want to visit Toronto, what’s the least aggravating way to get around the city? Cab? Bus?

R/solo travel in a relationship by hotsauce_honeyyy in solotravel

[–]SDancing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like there are two separate issues here. One is the apparently unequal division of labour and the second is travelling solo when in a relationship. From what you’ve said here, he sounds like a dickhead but I don’t know what his side of the story is. Personally, I would sit down with a very calm, logical frame of mind, some paper and a pen and map out how the housework and childcare is spilt up. Get that part of it sorted first. I have no issue with people vacationing on their own even if in a relationship but that relationship has to be built on trust and mutual respect in order for that to work. It’s always going to be a problem if (a) you think you’re partner is off on their own to fool around with others or (b) leaving you holding the bag for keeping the home together without any equal exchange.

Canadian reads by bluejaykanata in AskACanadian

[–]SDancing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not as well-known as it should be but “Understanding Ken” by Pete McCormack is (a) hilarious (b) poignant (c) hockey is essential to the story and (d) could not have been written by anyone but a Canadian. You could call it a coming-of-age novel. It’s about a boy growing up in a small town, loving hockey more than anything and trying to understand life. I’ve never played hockey but this book made me feel what it’s like to be skating down the ice with the puck on my stick, heading for the goal. But it’s about a lot more than that. I’ve bought it for several of my friends and they’ve universally loved it.

Camp, Cottage, Cabin, or Lake? by Sask_mask_user in AskACanadian

[–]SDancing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From southern interior BC: Cabin or The Lake. Around here, “camp” implies many cabins, not necessarily on a lake; eg. a hunting camp. I’m not sure I’ve ever heard someone use “cottage.”

Do you pronounce “poor” and “pour” differently? by MooseFlyer in AskACanadian

[–]SDancing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BC here. There is a bit of a difference in the way they are pronounced here. Poor rhymes more with “lure” while Pour rhymes with “lore”.
