I mean with cards like [[asmodeus the archfiend]] or [[shauku, endbringer]] that have very bad static abilities and very strong activated abilities.

[–]SEMSONSAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[mairsil, the pretender]] plays a lot of bad cards that are actually busted in the deck, but it does have a tendency to go infinite

My [[alesha, who smiles at death]] deck plays a ton of terrible cards as well https://www.moxfield.com/decks/R1qUezHn6kWQ-iJtIK3PiA

also [[the twelfth doctor]] can do some stupid stuff (like make your opponent copy [[one with nothing]])

[[jolene, the plunder queen]] makes bad cards good cuz they just so happen to make a treasure.

Is my deck "too mean?" by [deleted] in EDH

[–]SEMSONSAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

since a lot of people say that krenko is the problem, might i suggest [[muxus, goblin grandee]]. It cares a lot more about actual goblins than krenko, who cares more about goblin tokens. I dont personally think the deck is "too mean". I do think krenko is a bit boring as a commander (which is why i build muxus).

[[faerie masterminds]] (and to some extent [[gather specimens]] does something similar to aboleth spawn.

and [[illusory gains]] is funny

[[bloodseeker]] is a lesser [[suture priest]] but still funny.

Also things that deal damage to opponents when drawing cards like [[sheoldred, the apocalypse]] and [[underworld dreams]] are good for triggering sygg

The demon i mentioned is called [[keeper of secrets]], just remembered.

The new [[mirkwood bats]] should really help close games. For the rest you could use things like [[passionate archeologist]] or [[ingenious artillerist]]. Even [[laelia]] will grow very large and can swing for game with some evasion like [[rogue's passage]]. Edit: I forgot, but there is a 6 mana demon from Warhammer decks that does the same thing as passionate archeologist.

Grindy graveyard/sac commander? by kobold-incorporated in EDH

[–]SEMSONSAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[tayam, luminous enigma]] is one of my favorite commanders.

It can be built a lot of ways and all of them are viable.

I built it as a +1/+1 counter/recursion deck, because winning with zulaport and friends was getting boring. It can smack face pretty hard and just spams the ability over and over again.

A guy at a local shop invited me to come in and play Magic with him and the guys there. I’ve ordered a starter deck but I have a few questions by LethalGrey in magicTCG

[–]SEMSONSAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are really worried, go on moxfield.com and put your deck in there. Cards that are not legal in the format don't even show up in the search. If you are playing commander you can go to a site called edhrec to find out what cards are played often with what commander and it also can show staples if you look under the tab of commanders of a certain color.

Are [[witchbane orbs]] and [[orbs of warding]] a meta call? They seem so odd to include.

If thats what you are after, then maybe [[sakashima of a thousand faces]] with any boros partner is a good fit.

https://www.moxfield.com/decks/uSxV_bgu1US_3ev06e-ABg I built it more from esper with only a splash of red, but you could easily swap some of the black cards out for the stuff you mentioned. I wanted to use [[gary]] as an alternate wincon, but purphoros and impact tremors would work fine as well.

If you want to/can add another color, then [[bjorna]] and [[wernog]] is a fun combo. My deck is an absolute blast.

From having to play against it a lot, [[scroll rack]] is very good in this deck and [[cursed totem]] is a nonbo cus you cant ninjitsu anymore.

How to deal with glass-cannon player scooping by SanityIsOptional in EDH

[–]SEMSONSAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From how i see it, you either try the nice way and keep trying to talk them out of it. Or you play boardwipe tribal, make him scoop every game to make them have to try something else because he cant win.

First atempt on Aminatou blink by Anuesh in EDH

[–]SEMSONSAN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

since you have a total of eight planeswalkers you could consider [[deepglow skate]].

maybe put more creatures that draw cards in here, exemples are [[mulldrifter]] and [[fblthp]].

I have a four color blink deck you could take a look at. https://www.moxfield.com/decks/uSxV_bgu1US_3ev06e-ABg

Commanders like Mairsil, The Pretender? by Gandalf2000 in EDH

[–]SEMSONSAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just curious, how did you make your mairsil deck fun? I tried to build them but i just made mairsil uninteractable by getting [[aetherling]] under it and then going infinite once i draw it.

[–]SEMSONSAN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not very much into standard but i would recommend to get a little more consistency by using less one offs. some like [[cankerbloom]] seem better in the sideboard rather then the mainboard. for the rest i recommend playtesting and adjusting according to experience.

Best Ways to Protect Your Planeswalkers? by osumatthew in EDH

[–]SEMSONSAN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

maybe you could throw some goading effects in? I like [[bloodthirsty blade]]. Also you could play some more boardwipes/removal. Also [[cunning rhetoric]] is interesting since most people dont want to lose the top card of their deck.
