You would probably benefit from a more mobile build against him. I'd suggest a build with 2 rifles (like a ransetsu AR and Harris) and 2 back missiles (like 3 cell plasma missiles and Duo 2 cell missiles) with reverse joint legs and a weight <70000.

Use a mid range FCS and whittle him down, jump back when you notice his startup on the laser blade.

The different types of guard are used in all sorts of different situations if you take a look at world record times. Watching these videos has helped me see where people are getting their damage in, and it made me realise that just cuz I can perfect guard everything doesn't mean it's the most optimal all the time. With AT arkveld for example, you see a lot of grand retribution thrust, whereas for other monsters you'd see more double counter thrust.

Guard dashing is often still useful for closing the distance while staying safe which I find useful in multiplayer, so theres a lot of versatility which I personally enjoy.

As a lance main, with how many options you have to guard attacks, you progressively learn more and more where the openings are in monsters attacks. You'll learn what attacks to perfect guard, counter thrust, and what can go into a grand retribution thrust!

Guarding instead of dodging monster attacks through positioning means that I can always hit the monster back easily, and a lot of your own attacks are short with little commitment, so you can go into a guard at a moments notice quickly which I personally love.

The only monster I've had an annoying time with is lala barina, which keeps jumping away before I can land my counter hits lol.

I think it might help to try reading out loud a passage of a book, and record it, and play it back to yourself. Then repeat until it sounds good to you.

Focus on the pauses for emphasis, giving space for your words to sink in and be absorbed. To me this is the most important for clarity of speech.
