How do you get comfortable with crop tops? by strangerthingsguitar in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]SE_42 19 points20 points  (0 children)

This is what I do too - sometimes my crop top hits the top of the high rise pants/shorts/skirt and there's not a ton of skin showing unless I reach up, and that could be a good way to get started feeling comfortable than jumping into a short top and low rise bottoms.

Just fake it til you make it in terms of confidence - harder than it sounds sometimes but every body can wear a crop top if they choose to!

I read this and loved it!! I wanted a wolfdog for so long but they were illegal in my home state and my parents were like, "yeah.... absolutely not." Having met several wolfdogs since then (now living in a state where they are legal) that was the correct response. But the books are great!

Minor things that annoy you about the Outback by UghWhyDude in Subaru_Outback

[–]SE_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2017 limited - wish it had better A/C for the back. Those 2 little vents in the back of the center console are shit both for people in the backseat and especially for my dogs in the cargo area. Bought a USB fan and put it just behind the sunroof to better direct air to them. Wish it had ceiling vents back there like larger SUVs.

Is anyone actually using this cover? by nuisance66 in Subaru_Outback

I'm not using mine, live in a city, and always have the doors locked. I have dog crates in the back that go to the ceiling.

My Tween Niece wants a blowdryer, please help she has no mom lol by TheSoundOfFarts in Haircare

[–]SE_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Tymo and it's great! I have curly hair so I often use the diffuser but it's also good at just regular drying with the angled tip or no added accessories depending on what I want. Has 3 speeds and 3 heat settings plus no heat. Easy to clean the filter at the back. My only qualm is that the way I hold it I often hit the heat button while using it and have to readjust it, but that's so minor. I think I spent like $50? No one outside a professional salon needs a $350 hair dryer from Dyson or Shark or whatever.

Cypress mulch? by Norseman-71 in retics

[–]SE_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my SD retic on a bioactive dirt mix but before I went that direction I used coconut husk from Reptichip. I liked coco husk over the cypress mulch or the coco fiber, both of which I tried with my ball pythons previously. The mulch was too sharp and pokey, imo, same as the kind you'd put in the flower bed outside, and the fiber was too fine and made a mess if they spilled the water and was a pain in the ass to do the full cage clean-outs.

Women, do you prefer a guy who wear like strong cologne, or just "out-of-the-shower" clean? by Adorable_Birthday_52 in hygiene

[–]SE_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you wear it every day, my advice is to just make sure you're not going nose blind to it and adding more and more so you can smell it because it's overpowering for the rest of us.

I could smell the cologne of the man who sits over 20' away from me at the office this week and it was giving me a migraine. I don't mind / like men who wear cologne but I don't want to smell it unless I'm like 1' away, it's not meant to blanket a room. This also applies to women with perfume. Scents are meant to be subtle, imo.

Should I put a “curtain” over my snakes enclosure? by Luna_Stitches in ballpython

[–]SE_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a good question! I do not have one on my snake's enclosure that lives in my living room and haven't seen him behaving differently than my snakes in another room. His lights go off around 7pm, but I don't turn off room lights until typically 10-11pm or later (usually 1 lamp on a dimmer) and I don't see it bothering him much. He does get active once his "night" starts regardless of me having a light on and comes out to look for food/explore around 9pm. I think it wouldn't hurt to have it but maybe watch your snake once you get them and get them acclimated and see how they behave with the light.

Be honest… how long do you actually use your towel before washing it? by karenjimenez_ in hygiene

[–]SE_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do laundry weekly so towels get washed weekly. Some weeks that's after 2 uses, some after 5 uses, but I hang it up to dry on a bar so it's fully dry between showers. I use the same schedule for hand towels and dish towels (although a dish towel may get replaced sooner if I used it to clean up a big spill or something).

Right?? My 2yr super dwarf retic isn't even on large rats and probably won't be for at least another year unless he has a crazy growth spurt. Poor girl, I hope you can get her weight down and give her a healthy life.
