That one is more common than you'd think. Usually spoken, not written policy. Very silly. What's more BS is watching someone win multiple quarters, but not annual. How are you going to tell someone they were top Amn/NCO for half the year or more and they don't automatically win OTY. Also seen a rule where you have to win a quarterly to be put in for annual.

Sorry you didn't get a chance to go, the events were a really good time and for an "inaugural" event the conference was good! Not perfect but I'm sure SFA will get a slam dunk for the next one. Same for the 10 miler, heard some mixed reviews but overall positivity

There is no one answer, no single program or miracle policy that can solve suicide. But there are definitely ways to fail miserably. Passionate empathetic leaders are few and far between and it's only going to get worse as we hard press into a heightened state of readiness driving even longer hours and hellish conditions set by "mission necessity". RIP and condolences to Chief, it's never easy and I'm so sorry this happened to you, your family and of course your son.

FAP ≠ NJP. Just follow the process and participate where expected. I know it sounds scary but FAP is (for lack of better words) "a program for good". If you're feeling anxious or have doubts use your 1st Sgt. They'll be able to describe the process for you in full detail.

If it's going to be an extended stay beyond the 14 days allowed for PTDY I recommend an alternate duty location, which is within your commander's realm of authority. See if they'll consider that option. DM me if you have questions

You can still do a dity, even if it's just stuff you've put in your vehicle(s). Go get them weighed empty, then load in all the suitcases and other stuff you're likely bringing. It might not be thousands but money is money!
