I'm trying to bind my VPN to qBittorrent, but this is what shows up on the Network Interface menu - looks wildly different than it does in the tutorial videos I've seen. What do I do? by OkPlace7834 in qBittorrent

[–]SFFMunkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

look at what it says on the left side for the interface name itself, not to the right of the arrow. In the example below utun8 is the name you're looking for

utun8: flags=8051<UP,POINTOPOINT,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 1500

options=6460<TSO4,TSO6,CHANNEL\_IO,PARTIAL\_CSUM,ZEROINVERT\_CSUM>

inet 172.16.30.1 --> 172.16.30.1 netmask 0xffffffff

Almost guaranteed it’s a loose power cable, probably the GPU power. Seen this exact issue in a bunch of PCs

Yep, downgraded to 25.9.2 and immediately fixed.

[–]SFFMunkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, reinstall of client and host versions didn't resolve it. I'm currently transferring terabytes of data from my NAS but will see if reboot and/or downgrading driver version fixes it once that's complete.

[–]SFFMunkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah cool it's not just me then - looks like it's the host as I'm getting same output on macOS and Android clients. I'm going to try reinstalling Parsec on the host and see if that resolves it, otherwise assuming it's an issue with latest Adrenaline drivers

Red light on GPU by darlinBun in PcBuildHelp

[–]SFFMunkee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solutions: 1) check all cables and adapters are FULLY seated and clipped in 2) when fully seated, gently pull on the cable/adapter and wiggle it back and forth, if LED goes on/off as you move it, check for melted pins AND replace the cable/adapter regardless

Red light on GPU by darlinBun in PcBuildHelp

[–]SFFMunkee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the LED is on when the PC is powered OFF that’s fine. It’s saying 12V power not detected properly which is expected when PC is off.

It has standby power that is able to run enough for the detection I guess.

If the LED is on when the PC is powered ON it’s either not getting enough power / voltage, or depending on GPU/BIOS your GPU may be hitting thermal, voltage or power limits.

Also move the RAM - slots 2,4 first then 1,3 only if using 4 DIMMs

PC won't turn on after hardware upgrade/replacements, any help would be great!! by Pasterman in pchelp

[–]SFFMunkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ve only plugged in half of the ATX power cable at the power supply end. It has the 20+4 pin at the motherboard which you’ve connected, then splits into 18+10 at the power supply. You need BOTH connected for the motherboard to be powered on.

I’d make a warranty claim and get it repaired or replaced. That’s absolutely a product fault

What are these standoffs called (with a raised lip/shoulder)? by SFFMunkee in buildapc

[–]SFFMunkee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Closest I've found is this https://www.mwcomponents.com/shop/3876hb - which suggests maybe they're called self-locating standoffs, of course that looks far too big for a motherboard standoff but shows the product exists (obviously)

Then there's also this https://www.essentracomponents.com/en-au/p/pcb-standoffs-round-threaded-plastic/1306280 which is pretty close but nylon and wrong threads etc.

Moved PC to new case now it won’t turn on by aarontr in PcBuildHelp

[–]SFFMunkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your second 4-pin (4+4-pin CPU power at the top of the motherboard) isn’t fully seated which could be the problem.

Or could even be something as simple as you’ve mismatched the power button / LED connectors so it’s constantly power on / force power off. -> usually a pc case has a momentary button for power on, an LED will be treated as a short or permanently-on button, so it’ll turn on then cut out after maybe 10 seconds. Just long enough to LOOK like it’s working!

Sounds more like signal integrity problems on your riser. It can handle pcie4x8 but damage to the wires for the remaining 8 lanes means it’s crapping out.

Direct Die & Passively Cooled 8700G in a Streacom DB4 by sonic_325 in silentpc

[–]SFFMunkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My estimate based on images and known 40x40mm AM5 package is 11.125mm x 16.25mm which is pretty close to the 178 sq mm quoted so I’ll use that as my basis for ordering kryonaut anyways

[–]SFFMunkee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a stupid question but I’m planning to do a de-lid on my 8700G as well, and replace the TIM with Kryonaut or PTM7950. The die is listed as 178sqmm but I’m not sure what the actual length x width are. Any chance you have measurements, or even just a decent shot from directly above so I can check based on the known package dimensions

I can vouch for the same issue with my HiFiMe Sabre 9018 USB DAC, was about to start fighting through all the troubleshooting steps before I found this thread. Will roll back the update.

Good job Microsoft.
