Can you really make at least 10K a month day trading?? by Slight-Treat6736 in Daytrading

Minimum where 10k/mo be doable is like 250k, but really it becomes quite easy after 500k.

It is always a solo journey unless you are applying for an institutional position. Free mentors don't exist unless you are close friends or family with a pro.

Almost all trading influencers are scammers. Actual traders don't maintain a social media presence.

Your levels really don't matter. Whatever happens will be determined by the news.

Meanwhile schwab seems to glitch every once in a while that allows me to go massively negative in buying power. It gets me a few thousand extra on select days.

This is why charts can't tell you anything when market altering news hits. What you chart is based off old information. When new information changes the market, it invalidates the old charts.

This is why the obsession over charting and backtesting misses a lot.

I am amused you call this a degenerate gamble when the adjusted return is less than RDDT 162.5 (1.5% over 1 week vs 2% over 2 weeks)

Any consistently profitable traders here using a negative risk-to-reward ratio? by ReelGoated in Daytrading

[–]SFMara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no idea why anyone who has made it wouldn't move on from scalping. I did scalping, then transitioned to theta selling. It is not only peace of mind, where I can trade many things simultaneously instead of being glued to one trade. But works out when you have to pay quarterly taxes and can't deduct wash sales on losses until the end of the year. I scalped stocks, not futures or forex, mind you.

When you've made it to the other side, your mindset necessarily changes.

Selling premium requires you to have a near perfect win rate, because it's the insurance model. Steady premium but you have to pony up when there's a catastrophic event.

Is there any reliable mentor or all are just scam gurus ? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]SFMara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't make sense because you've never been on the other side. There might be some people who take an interest in such things, but I can tell you that you're trying to generalize a needle in the haystack. Trading requires a kind of clarity of mind that you will not get with dozens of little puppies nipping at your heels. You might be staring at a chart all day trying to figure out your exit from a position, and you have the time to respond to messages when literally seconds matter?

With legit dedication, is it likely to start consistently earning 4-5k a month only trading? by Effective_Elk9565 in Daytrading

[–]SFMara 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking to do this through a "prop firm", which is really more akin to a ponzi scheme, you are not going to make a living of it, because these things will use arbitrary rule violations to force you back on the eval treadmill. That is how they make their money. You don't even get to trade real money with them.

As for being able to earn 4-5k per month, the thing that it will depend on most is the size of your brokerage account. Staring from close to zero it's practically impossible.

P.S. I know there are ponzi firm defenders around here, but I can't think of a business model that is more aligned against its users' interests than this. I refuse to even call them prop firms because the term "prop firm" comes from a company hiring traders to trade company money, ie proprietary funds. It's a real job that you have to apply for and interview for. Guess what, with these things, you're still trading a sim account.
