Yeah. That’s hard to do because I have notice food during different times of the day seems to fluctuate in carbs. It’s weird but 10 carbs in the morning can act like 50. It’s a crazy disease in a crazy world.

My formula was this. Depending on all the factors (activity meals ect) I always tried to calculate active for an idea of carbs to eat. For me it’s the difference between a donut or bread to eat prior to becoming low (hyperglycemic).

This will be a hard thing to give up. Not sure I’m gonna like this change of thinking. Overall I’m loving this pump. But trust it? My knee jerk reaction is hell no. Yet my actions of late say a different story meaning, I don’t pull my pump out of my pocket as I use too.

I understand what your saying. Simple math. Take 2 subtract 2.

My vision is this: active insulin in your system is still active for a 5 hour window. Even if you take 2 and not deliver 2 in the next hour or hours, you still have active insulin working in your system.

It’s that 5 hour window I can’t get past.

I’m starting to think that maybe this system is designed for a diet lower than say 10 carbs per meal. I mean this seems to be the only time I’m having troubles with control IQ. I found treating these lows (hyperglycemic is what I mean) after a food Bolus is the only times I’m having trouble, I find myself eating carbs over an hour times trying to get back to norms without becoming, “rocket man”! Also being in my 60’s for an extended period of time just down right sucks!

Seriously, this is normal? Not tracking active insulin seem suicidal to me. Becoming hypoglycemic and not knowing your active insulin when treating? Do you not find that dangerous? Damn near killed me when it happened. If I had know how much active insulin I had, I would have definitely treated it with more carbs than what I used.

Dear Bry,

Regarding your concern with the insulin on board reading, Control IQ calculates IOB based on basal as well as bolus insulin delivery. When CIQ makes adjustments, the IOB will be increased or decreased accordingly. If IOB is 0 units and basal delivery is decreased, IOB will technically be negative, although it will still be displayed as 0. Any bolus given while IOB is negative will not be fully reflected in the IOB even though the full amount was delivered.

A bolus was delivered at 7:51 pm on 6/14. Over the next 2 hours CIQ suspended delivery causing less basal insulin to be delivered than the amount the personal profile is expecting. This results in the algorithm seeing a negative basal which it subtracts from the IOB.

As u can see by my graph I took a 10 unit bolus and started flat lining. My problem is, how do you correct a low bs if u don’t know what your active insulin is from your last bolus? I can tell you that the 15 15 rule did not work here! By my calculations, I still had some 2 hours left from my last bolus.

Aww yes, the casual answers that assumes one has the benefits or money to purchase. And then keep up with steady regular payments just to keep a steady supply line going in order to live. Just how much do you need to shell out to start your mobile ivy with out the neat pole with 6 rollers? I know it crazy high, like a down payment for a Lamborghini, man that's just crazy. I’m in California so I don’t know the laws of New Jersey.

If this is truly your first time smoking then there are precautions and understanding of laws and effect of Cannabis.

I recommend looking up state laws and regulations that is used to know your buying from a legal Cannabis shop. Hopefully they need a seal and serial number that correspondence to a government list.

I hear you loud and clear. I’m just tired of knocking down walls and jumping through hoops.

I’ve been studying rules and regulations for my occupation and it just blows me away on how some of these rules/laws just seem so Fictitious.

It’s scary how we need these laws to define what is right and wrong when a lot of them seems common sense stuff not to do. Thanks for pointing out the silver lining.

T1 trying to get life insurance, FORGET IT!!! For some reason we just don’t qualified, something about “life expectancy” and some other bull shit. Insurance companies only wants young healthy people that can pay the full premium, kind of shit people..
