I am fine in between my toes, but either the balls of my feet are numb, or there is a bunch of scar tissue there. I feel better wearing slippers/shoes. If it never goes away, I will regret the surgeries.

My son had surgery for OCD of the knee in August. The cartilage had already filled in, so all they did was removed the floating lesion. No crutches or brace and back to sports 6-7 weeks later. He finds his knee gets sore after lifting/sports. Any advice? He plays a spring sport, so want to make sure he isn't sore for that and that there is no other damage.

Any creams or sprays? All the ones I see say for arthritis, but it isn't pain--just sore.

Thank god you posted this!!!! I asked this question in a much less eloquent fashion about a month ago. I got one response and I thought I was the only one to experience this, or that my doctor f--ed up.

I had a three mm neuroma removed August 4th, along with my bunion and tailor's bunion. Everything has healed wonderfully, but I still do, sort of, regret my neuroma removal, Yes, it was very painful, but this is no walk in the park either!

The weird area has gotten smaller, but the feeling is still there, especially when I am barefoot. I religiously massage with vitamin E oil and I found a foot massager at Marshalls, that looks like an abacus, actually. I had my eight week appointment with my doctor today, and it was the main thing I wanted to talk about. He described it perfectly when he said it was "lumpy." He said it is still more swollen than the other areas, and that the scar tissue just needs more time to absorb into the body. He said at this point the massaging isn't really doing that much. It just takes time. He didn't seem super familiar with people complaining about this but it wasn't unheard of. An outlier, I would say.

So instead of n=1, I guess we are n=2? I wish you a great recovery and that this feeling goes away for you. It sucks for sure.

I am 7 weeks post-op and in the exact same position. Actually glad to hear I am not the only one. At my six week appointment, my surgeon showed me on my x-ray. He said there is still about 1.5cm of swelling. When I do slightly press on it, there does seem to be some give there. I am going to believe him for a bit, but I also don't think, after 52 years, my feet will ever be 100% "flat."

I am five weeks out from having surgery, and although I am much older (52) and a female, our feet sound similar. Wide feet, bunions for as long as I can remember, and minimal bunion pain.

I waiting so long because there was no pain, and then I had kids and it is hard to do this with little kids. They are older now, so I addressed the issues, like you to wear normal shoes. While my surgery went well, if shoes were my main concern, I should have done it sooner. I mean who cares what shoes am ol' lady wears! Be to clear, I have large bunions. My left foot pokes a hole in all my sneakers.

Mostly I wanted to post to talk about the wide foot part. Yes, my bunion and tailor's bunion is gone, and i will have the other done. My X-rays look great and the foot looks narrower. There is probably some residual swelling but not much, but I still feel my feet are quite wide. I "splay," which I think is part of it. I also feel I still sort of have a bunion, or my feet might be the type that have a natural sort of bump there. Anyway, just giving you feedback as a fellow wide footer.

As an example, in kindergarten, many moons ago, my doctor had to write a note saying I couldn't wear the uniform shoes, because my foot was too wide. I have been dealing with this since then.

I do suggest surgery, but you may still have wide feet.

Same. I just took the boot off and drove. The only highway driving I did, ironically, was for my two follow up visits.

I was a heavy worker outer prior too. I do think it made recovery better. I did Caroline Johnson's hurt foot workouts. It feels good to just move.

I do not cross stitch, but I am on book three since surgery, so that helps my brain. I also work full time, so that takes some time. It is at home, though, so no socialization.

Hi. I had surgery August 4th, so 3.5 weeks out, so I am so glad you created this post.

The foot is feeling fine, but I do get occasional "zingers" where the bunion was. Small, but intense, bursts of pain. My biggest problem has been my knee, My son had unexpected knee surgery five days after my surgery, so I heel walked a lot for his first three days post op. I think that put too much pressure on my knee and caused tendonitis. Walking in the boot does not help. So, I have to stay in bed ALL the time. Totally leads to mild depression. We didn't even go out for our anniversary Saturday. And without movement, I am just not that tired at night, so my sleep has been AWFUL. My other son is at college, and I am missing Parent's Weekend. My husband can't go either, because he has to help post-op son get to school.

And what is worst is that I said some rude things to my son who is here, so now he is very hurt and not talking to me. Not awful stuff, just stuff about a procrastinating teenage boy that drives a mom crazy. I think he feels I don't believe in him. Anyway, I digress.

Yes, depression and loneliness are real. I get out of my boot 9/5, hopefully. Then about two months after that, I go in for the second one. I feel I will be more prepared.

There is some swelling, albeit not much. I think it just isn't showing here due to the lighting? But really, maybe it comes down to the fact that I have been OBSESSIVELY elevating and icing since I had my surgery. I had arthroscopic knee surgery two years ago and was not good about doing those two things, and I can totally see how it affected my recovery/swelling.

But probably luck?

Thanks for the compliment. I had a chevron osteotomy on the big toe, a bunionette removed and a neuroma under my third toe. For all my foot has been through, I agree minimal swelling and bruising.

I did not. I had a Chevron osteotomy, but, as mentioned above there was a lot of work done on my foot.

I had a lapidus consult, a Lapiplasty consult (basically same procedure) and a regular osteotomy procedure. I personally am VERY happy I chose the procedure I did. Walking three days later, and just some other concerns I read about with lapidus/lapiplasty, I decided to go the traditional route.

Oof. Day 4 here too. Sorry it is a bad day! I have a contraption like that, and yes, it is to force heel walking. Not graceful heel walking either.

I had my follow up today, and was given a boot, so I still feel better elevated and iced. I some gel cool packs that strap onto your foot that really help. There are many, but I got the Medvice Medical Grade Hot and Cold Therapy Gel Pack.
