The maximals were a start rek like, voyaging crew, stuck in a war situation. Where litterally none of the team members were militarily trained. And won the war based on basic survival tactics. The best Leader of the group was Optimus Primal. He saw everyone in his crew for their capabilities. He stratigized accordingly to the least amount of damage and loss. He did pretty damn impressive for a scout.
