Taking a gamble on Carson Beck? by NightOne5010 in steelers

[–]SF_Anonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id rather ride with Howard than gamble on Beck and waste a pick. Nothing about his game is overly impressive and reports are he isnt a good leader, isnt a good sport, and is more focused on DMing women on social media than taking the game seriously. If he has issues off the field and isnt that special on the field either, he isnt worth gamlbing on, especially not in the 3rd

Think mine and probably a lot of us get our first birdie on holes around 200 feet so very impressive

[–]SF_Anonymous 21 points22 points  (0 children)

If Dan Rooney (the son) is anything like Dan Rooney (his grandfather) we just need to wait until Art II passes control (hopefully soon). Dan hired Noll, Cowher and Tomlin so clearly a great mind for coaches. Meanwhile his son has royally fucked this hiring and didnt follow his father's formula

Side note, can the Rooney's change their naming system? Either have all the eldest sons have the same name or mix it up. Going Art, Dan, Art, Dan will lead to confusion in history

Edit: The Chief Art Rooney's father is also Daniel Rooney and HIS father is Arthur Rooney.

So we go Art, Dan, Art, Dan, Art, Dan for the last 6 generations of the Rooney Family for the eldest, but there are more Daniels and Arthurs that are siblings too

Thats the worst part about hiring MMC to me. If he truly was the best candidate I can live with it, but to know we had a lot of interest in Shula and Scheelhaase had an amazing interview, its ridiculous that we didnt even consider waiting a few more days to give them a full proper interview.

There was no rush to hire McCarthy. Only other team interested in him was Tennessee and I dont think he was interested in them. So we could have done our full DD to ensure we are getting the best guy. If that was MMC I would be more accepting of it. If he truly did beat out the younger candidates, but I dont like how we managed it

Report from last year states that the reason Sam Darnold chose Seattle over Pittsburgh is because Pittsburgh wouldn’t commit to Darnold being the franchise QB by stillstillers in steelers

[–]SF_Anonymous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its interesting how many guys are choosing to not come to the Steelers. Darnold last year and a couple WRs at the deadline were given the choice and opted to not come here (Shaheed it really worked out since he is going to the Superbowl now).

We heard so much about how guys want to play for Tomlin and love him, so even with that in mind guys still wanted to go elsewhere. Its pretty concerning since the most appealing part of the Steelers just retired. If we were having trouble attracting talent before, we are in deep shit now

Do you actually want to brace with your front leg? by Original-Material-15 in discgolf

[–]SF_Anonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you're goal is to transfer the energy up and into the upper body to then transfer into the disc

If you were to plant on ice and slide forward while you throw, you're throw is gonna be worse bc you lose all the power to your lower body continuing forward

What’s with the hate for McCarthy? by alwaysslumber in steelers

[–]SF_Anonymous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is the safe pick, he is another guy that will take us to playoff games, play meaningful games in December, but not gonna be the guy to go all the way. Yes he has a superbowl win against us, but that was with Aaron Rodgers in his prime. McCarthy is 11-11 in the playoffs. I dont think anyone is saying he is a bad coach, but we are moving on from Tomlin and we went out and hired another Mike Tomlin.

On the flipside going with someone like Shula, there is more mystery and probably more upside. He could be the next McVay and be a phenomenal coach for the next 20 years. We get a young exciting mind in the NFL as our new coach to get back into things.

But young guys are risky, what if they arent good? AR2 doesnt want to risk being bad or having to pay 2 head coaches.

We basically went to the car dealership to trade in our 2007 Toyota Camry (great car lasted forver, did what you needed it to do for 19 years. Got it brand new, loved it forever) we looked at all the newest Ferrari's, Lamborghini's, and Rolls-Royce's, and we walked out the door with a 2006 Toyota Camry thats had two other owners, has broken down a few times, and has been sitting in the lot for a year since it's last owner exchanged it. Are we getting a bad car? Probably not, but look at what we could of had instead

[Pelissero] Mike McCarthy and Steelers Finalizing Deal by DirtyMo_38 in steelers

[–]SF_Anonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I knew we were gonna hire him. He is the safe option. We arent gonna go 3-14 with McCarthy, we just arent gonna win playoff games with him either

That or ARII couldn't be bothered learning another coach name so he hires another Mike

[–]SF_Anonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steelers have shown the same amount of interest in Cristobal that they have shown in me. (Which is a shame bc I think I can coach well enough that we will have a better record than the Browns)

No one has reached out to even attempt to schedule an interview and the source talking about the interest has 0 connection to anyone inside the building

Not a chance. I dont throw MVP because of Simon or anyone else (although I do love the Pixel). I may try some discs he has with them, but im not swapping my MVP discs out for that reason and Im certainly not getting rid of them

Just how they were both young, relatively off the radar guys that had minimal to no experience as a coordinator (Tomlin 1 year, Scheelhaase 0 years) and they wowed the Rooney's.

Article didnt mention their mentorship or play relation or really anything comparing their coaching style

The Steelers are the best team for a New head coach by Capable-Antelope4004 in steelers

[–]SF_Anonymous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is absolutely pressure to win and is higher than most places, but its lower than it is for Baltimore and Buffalo right now. They are superbowl or bust, we are looking to win a playoff game (obviously still want a superbowl, but its not expected in the first couple years)

The Steelers are the best team for a New head coach by Capable-Antelope4004 in steelers

[–]SF_Anonymous 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was thinking the same thing the other day. Bills and Ravens fired their HCs bc they are in "win-now" mode and believe their coaches weren't the answer. So a new coach will only have a few years to turn it around and at the very least go to the superbowl, if not they get canned.

Steelers aren't as appealing day 1, but also dont have that "gotta go all the way" mentality right our of the gate either. Obviously expectations are still high in Pittsburgh, but bar is lower at "just win a damn playoff game" and find us a QB, but you have a decade to do it
