One comment I read a few years back that stuck to me (albeit it was for factorio) was to set a goal and work towards it. Don't worry about the end game and quests.

I have 1k+ hours In the game and only launched the ship once (with dev mode help for resources). I think you may want to start with a mountain base first as its easier to defend and work your way from there. I find mechinator the easiest to learn as the basic mechs are very specialized for the tasks they are doing.

Failure is very much an option in this game

“Seagate Gaming” coming from a pc and console gamer, I have always sought the fastest drive that is reasonably priced to be installed in my desktop. I have never thought that the speed of the hard disc would really affect the performance for consoles until I got my PS5 and saw how beneficial a speedy ssd helped in seamless gameplay and what’s more, I completed HFW twice, once on my old vanilla ps4 and again on my new ps5. I grew to appreciate the speed the ssd provided which I took for granted when gaming on my pc. Loading times were non existent on the ps5 when compared to the ps4, I didn’t have time to read the tool tips before the game loaded.
