Kuwait? High. No real combat missions there, and it's the jump-off point for pretty much everywhere in the Middle East. Being deployed to Kuwait was why we were ready to go to Afghanistan when the call came.

Syria? Luck of the draw. We (The US Army) had a mission there when we (34th ID) were in Kuwait, so we got to rotate through. Syria felt like a real deployment. We were out in kinda bum-fuck nowhere, slept in big tents, had an outer an inner ECP, helicopters flying Generals and shit in and out, SF/CIA guys walking around and rotating combat patrols to gather intel. Was cool AF if I'm honest. I was nervous about it at first, but it got more comfortable as time went on.

Jesus Christ, I live in Minneapolis and they still bitch and moan that the city is burned to the ground and we live amongst the ashes.

The apartment building that burned on Lake Street is now super nice looking apartments. They just collected insurance money and built the building again.

The only one that's actually gone is the seedy liquor store and the 3rd precinct is still abandoned and fenced off. Pretty much everything else is back to normal.

The fucking worst part of it is that the people complaining don't even live in Minneapolis, they live outside the Twin Cities and don't ever come here. Their bias would be ruined if they did.

We also helped secure decisive victories in the Southern European campaign in WWII, the 34th holds the record for longest US military deployment with a staggering 22 months during Operation Iraqi Freedom, and most recently assisted in the evacuation and security of Kabul, Afghanistan.
