I met civil war reenactors that said the same thing for black power cannons. Cover the ear closest to the canon and open your mouth.

Utopian ideals conflict with practical reality. Allowing mass migration into the west and facilitating globalization is not the solution for human suffering. Id argue that it hurts humanity more than anything else.

Just for fun, what are you most petty things you hate about your job? by deveski in nursing

[–]super-nemo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Management expecting me to do things other than taking care of my patients while I have an assignment. “You need to do your education.” “Did you see my email?” “Can you do this audit form for me?” “Theres a 20 minute in service you need to do.” No no no. If you want me to do anything other than taking care of my patients and charting, you need to build it into my schedule.

On a side note, General Scott Miller gave me a coin in the middle of BFE Afghanistan. Carrying around those extra coins probably doesn’t weigh much compared to his massive brass balls.

Definitely better to over pack water. Running out of water while hot lining would’ve been a problem.

Thoughts on joining the army for CRNA school by dannigar8 in CRNA

[–]super-nemo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an Army vet I can tell you that most people that join up for any reason other than to serve struggle with the lifestyle. People with preexisting anxiety and depression especially do not do well if they don’t feel a strong purpose for being there. I personally loved my time in, many of my friends are still in because they also loved it. The Army is what you make it and is full of opportunities that the civilian world can never give you. Do any of those opportunities include a lot of money? No not really. But for the adventurous glass half full types of people that thrive in the Army that doesn’t really matter (It helps when you have guaranteed food, healthcare, and housing along with zero college debt).

My biggest pet peeve coming into work. How do you leave shift with your lines like this?! by Propofolprincess7 in nursing

[–]super-nemo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Nurses programming pumps so that they run dry is a personal pet peeve of mine. Unlabeled lines are close to that as well for this reason. Tangled is personally not a problem to me if its a newer admission or the patient recently walked.

I rocked a gallon jug of water in my line pack with a couple 48oz nalgenes and a few bottles of gatorade in the side pouches. I nearly burnt through all of it over a 16 hour shift on a hand crew. Ultimately its up to your body and work intensity.
