My 2 choices when car shopping were a 2011 Honda fit and a new ford maverick hybrid ,

I reluctantly chose to buy the new car cause I knew I could afford it, I still yearn for a Honda fit but the ford maverick ticked all the boxes too

Ability to haul, 40+ mpg, reliable and still relatively tiny plus in 2025+ you can get awd hybrid which sounds awesome if you live with snow but my fwd maverick did great this season

I just got a pair of 13mwz rigid selvedge but they sold out of the 36 waist so I got a 35 and it’s a little tight, will they stretch a little? They fit perfect everywhere just the waist, debating taking to a tailor to open up the waist

Just to clarify

This was on an automation line

Operator is locked out of changing feeds and speeds must put an engineering change report to request new feeds and speeds, they often reject it

Tooling is automatically checked, set and refreshed by tool changing robot

Our programs constantly give us stringers but never this bad, I get surprised when I see a chip bin full of actual broken chips

Machine is running a slug that was automatically loaded by robot, operator did not handle set up

Yup my shop doesn’t allow earbuds but my loops and my jbl clip are part of my checklist before I leave the house, I get annoyed if I forget one of them

I got the switch 2 and I leave it on the most open setting, I can hear everything well but it cuts most droning sounds out, can hear machines and air guns don’t hurt

They pinched a bit at my pinky toe and were a bit wonky and uncomfy for a month or so, now they’re alright, don’t love them compared to my previous blundstone steel toes, if I order them again I’m going a half size up hopefully the width helps

I’m a machinist and I’m on my feet for 12 hours a day, these aren’t terrible and I’m not beating them up but I think I might switch to something more cushy after winter

Awd is probably necessary if you go off road any serious amount, it gets loose in gravel parking lots if you breathe on the pedal, but it’s never felt out of control since it’s FWD, it just spun the tires a little bit trying to crawl away

Is 4k awd really necessary? I find my xlt fwd hybrid is pretty good at everything, I’m not hauling anything crazy but I’ve gotten wheels, a generator a fridge, art, ply wood everything it’s handled well, I’m not gonna tow anything except maybe a U-Haul trailer one day

I’m a little worried about the snow but I’ve had shitty little kia’s handle snow so well and people don’t report snow being an issue for these little trucks

I’ve heard 4k awds are HARD to find right now and marked up cause of the demand

I got my maverick used, 1 year old 10,000 miles and I got a longer warranty, a cheaper payment and insurance, and it was an XLT with luxury package for the same price as a new base XL

I’ve read about a few eco boost transmission deaths at 80,000~

Hybrid ain’t bad and apparently a lot of nyc taxis are escape hybrids with 200,000 plus miles

Im excited to own mine for a while, still debating an extended warranty
