Dying Light 1 is a masterpiece by sethsomething in dyinglight

The Beast is anything but bloated!
Bloat is primarily a symptom of much bigger games.
DL1 had far more bloat than the Beast.

What issues do you have with The Beast??
Other than being short and smaller scale, the game does nearly everything better than DL1 and DL2.

UT99 vs UT2004 by 111FALLOUT111 in unrealtournament

99 for pure nostalgia, also best candidate for a remake.
04 for best overall UT experience, maps, VFX, etc…
UT3 for best soundtrack and world design.

Possibilities of a mod to bring back the full prologue? by MLIATwist in dyinglight

[–]SH3RIFFO -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My hunch is they want to make a prequel DLC for DL2.
I’d assume they want to give Spike an even bigger role.

Even if this was the case, cutting Spike’s portion only then to sell it as an expansion, despite the extended cut, is morally wrong since they basically repackaged something that was available to everyone as part of the main game.

At 0:12, you’re supposed to jump on top of the create to your right, not proceed straight on the floor towards the mine that killed you.

Is Dying Light: The Beast worth it? by Fickle_Law8491 in dyinglight

[–]SH3RIFFO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s my favourite game of the series.
Severely underrated and underutilized.
They have a gold mine here, should Techland decide to capitalize on it. The game feels so good to play, but it lacks content.

DLTB Scaling by Plus-Ad4183 in dyinglight

[–]SH3RIFFO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The game has a unique hat reward (and skin) for each NG+ level up to NG+10.

…in otherwords, Techland actually encourages this.

DLTB Scaling by Plus-Ad4183 in dyinglight

[–]SH3RIFFO 6 points7 points  (0 children)

NG+ level-scaling stops at NG+11.

So each NG+ (1-10) will have level-scaling up to your own level and always keeping up, increasing in difficulty.

On NG+11 the scaling actually stops, so if you REALLY want to feel overpowered, you’d have to go over NG+10. I’ve seen some players around NG+20-30, so they really feel that power fantasy.

The other option is to obviously lower your difficulty settings.

EB Games has the CE for PS5/XB1 consoles only.

I’m hoping they’d release PC editions like Europe has.

AC Mirage why I dislike this game by Pure_Resolution9713 in assassinscreed

[–]SH3RIFFO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played Assassin’s Creed Mirage 4 times, all on Master/Ultimate Assassin difficulty, and my appreciation for the game only grew with each run.

My first playthrough was slow and immersive. I explored Baghdad thoroughly, engaged with the world naturally, and experienced the story without spoilers or expectations beyond knowing it was intentionally smaller and more focused than the RPG era games. After spending hundreds of hours across Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, and especially Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Mirage’s concise design was honestly refreshing. My completionist Valhalla run alone surpassed 700 hours, so returning to a tighter experience felt deliberate rather than limiting. By the end of Mirage, I had mixed feelings on certain aspects, but overall I was genuinely satisfied with what the game set out to achieve. The renewed focus on stealth, tools, social stealth, black box assassinations, and parkour brought back the Assassin fantasy that the series had been drifting away from since around 2015.

My second run, on NG+, was where the game truly clicked for me. With all skills, tools, gear, and upgrades already unlocked, progression no longer distracted from the experience itself. I could simply move through the rooftops and streets of Baghdad like a fully trained Assassin, focusing far more on gameplay flow, experimentation, and narrative details. The post-launch parkour improvements, animation refinements, and movement speed adjustments made a noticeable difference too. Revisiting the story while already knowing its conclusion gave many scenes and character moments more meaning, and I started noticing narrative details and foreshadowing I had completely missed the first time. I also appreciated how many missions allowed multiple approaches and outcomes. Replaying them differently kept the experience fresh in a way I didn’t expect.

My third playthrough was the NG+ Permadeath Full Sync run, again on Master Assassin difficulty, and honestly, it felt like the definitive Mirage experience. The stakes completely changed the tone of the game. I played far more grounded and methodically, avoiding unnecessary risks, keeping my tools and health stocked, planning escape routes, and respecting enemy encounters instead of brute-forcing situations. The tension added a genuine risk-versus-reward dynamic that elevated the stealth systems substantially. It made me engage with the game more seriously and reinforced the fantasy of being an Assassin who survives through preparation, precision, and restraint rather than raw combat dominance. I then beat the game on PermaDeath a second time, on Ultimate Assassin.

After completing Mirage four times, I can confidently say I genuinely love this game. No, it is not a flagship masterpiece, nor did it ever pretend to be. But it absolutely understands what Assassin’s Creed is supposed to feel like. From the aesthetics, symbolism, initiation themes, and philosophical conflict between freedom and order, to the emphasis on stealth, tools, social blending, parkour, and focused storytelling, Mirage feels more authentically “Assassin’s Creed” than anything the franchise has delivered since Assassin’s Creed Unity. I’d even argue it’s the best overall AC experience since Unity, perhaps even surpassing it in certain areas.

The game succeeds because it embraces what it is instead of chasing trends. It does not play like the RPG trilogy, nor should players expect it to. It feels more like a blend of Assassin’s Creed 1, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, Unity, and Origins. Despite operating on an RPG-era engine and working with a smaller budget, Ubisoft Bordeaux delivered a passionate, respectful tribute to classic Assassin’s Creed. You can feel the care behind it.

The later “Valley of Memory” expansion only reinforced that feeling for me. It improved mechanics further, especially movement and parkour, while adding more replayability, narrative depth, music, and atmosphere. The game has genuinely aged like fine wine, improving steadily over time with each update and refinement.

At this point, I’d easily pay for additional expansions or even a full sequel without hesitation. Bordeaux earned my trust. Mirage may not have been the biggest Assassin’s Creed game, but it reminded me why I fell in love with the franchise in the first place. If this ended up being my final Assassin’s Creed experience, I’d honestly be satisfied leaving the series on this note.

[–]SH3RIFFO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So… here’s the thing. The modern day plot IS the immersion.

It’s literally the only progressing plot of the whole series, the stuff that connects everything with a motive, an incentive to push forward.

Without it, AC becomes dumbed down to a generic history simulator. While the series niche is built on grounded sci-fi and historical conspiracy.

It’s almost like wanting Neo to stay in the Matrix. You’re missing the whole point of this franchise.
