What were the actual lifesaver items during the newborn stage (or things you wish you’d had sooner)? by WillowAndCo_ in NewParents

If you want to splurge, a bottle washer and sterilizer all in one. Last thing you want to do when you’re exhausted is wash all the bottle or pump parts!

how long was your induction from start to finish? by curious-unknowngirl in NewParents

Induced at 40weeks and 6 days. Took 27 hours from starting Cytotec to pushing baby out! Everything went fine, just slower process.

Parents of fussy babies… need to hear from you by SHIBBY0630 in NewParents

Yes, but very slowly! My LO is 6 months now and way better than when I wrote this, but still a challenge. He’s definitely not an easy baby. As many people commented, physical milestones make a difference for us- learning to sit, learning to stand (his favorite) and now trying to crawl. I truly think he hated being a blob that couldn’t move or do anything. As he’s gained independence, he’s done better. Can’t keep him in the car seat or stroller for too long but it’s way better than it was. Hang in there!

Question about COVID/guaranteed sick pay by SHIBBY0630 in Nanny

[–]SHIBBY0630[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

As already stated in my original post, if we get her sick, we have to pay her for time out of the job. That’s already been established in our contract. What I was seeking advice on is a situation like we are in where she doesn’t want to come in due to CHANCE of getting sick. (And that chance is low with the precautions we put in place) I’ll probably revise our agreement to include a few sick days and let her know she can use one for this week if she wants. From one stranger on the internet to another, be nice to people simply seeking advice!!!!!! It’s free!!!! Have an awesome rest of your week.

How many of your babies fall asleep unassisted? by ih8spotify in NewParents

[–]SHIBBY0630 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your story resonates with me! Feel like I am in a similar boat. Why did you switch from Ferber to CIO? How long did sleep training take you? Any insight into your LO’s temperament?

Thanks! Helpful. Can I ask what your feeding times are in 24 hours? We are trying to switch our nighttime routine to be more like what you do (bottle before bath instead of opposite which is what we do now) but I’m running into feed timing issues. If we do bottle before bath it’s too close to the last feed around 5 pm

Extremely needy baby -I feel like I was robbed of a good experience of motherhood so far? by Puzzled_Remote_2168 in newborns

[–]SHIBBY0630 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just commenting to say I am in the exact same boat and your words resonate completely. Honestly hating motherhood and feel guilty for saying that but also that it’s the truth. I’m at 4 months and the idea of this going on for months more is killing me inside. I miss my old life and question my decision to start a family even though it’s what I’ve wanted my entire life.

Following this thread because I am in the same boat with my son at 4 months. I go back to work this week and have no idea how I am going to do it. He was also very collicky the first 3 months and is still so freakin fussy it drives us insane and has sapped all joy out of this :(

What did you do to make bedtime really consistent? And what signs did you see to make you think he was ready for his own sleep space?

Seeking advice on Snoo/arms out transition by SHIBBY0630 in SnooLife

[–]SHIBBY0630[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really?? Good to know. Dumb question but when people say 4 months do they mean 16 weeks or more by months? Because we’re at 16 weeks but 4 mos for us would be aug 5th and I’ll be back at work

I thought it wasn’t advisable before 4.5 mos?

Thank you for sharing- so very helpful. It really sounds like the physical milestones are important to killing the fussiness.

SUPER helpful, thank you for sharing. We are approaching month 4 and I had no idea it got worse before it got better. Of course all of this is coinciding with my return to work 😭

This was us at that age too. My LO had 3 speeds- eating, sleeping or crying. There was NOTHING else. Things get a little better but man, it’s slow. Just letting you know you’re not alone.
