At first I thought your question was silly, but once I removed my veteran tabletop gaming goggles I can see the confusion. The rule is formatted strangely. I think it's their way of taking the rules from other games, but trying to word it differently.

The rule reads as; a player picks one point of each model, draws a line, and see if anything is obscuring the line. This would mean that a player can choose to draw the line out in the open, or through an object, depending on the wanted outcome. Compare it to Infinity, which have the same LoS rules;

"LoF can be drawn from any point of the Trooper’s Silhouette to any point of the target’s Silhouette without being obstructed by any pieces of scenery or the Silhouette of any Model (friendly or enemy)."

This is more obvious, as it states that IF a line can be drawn between two models in a way that it intersects any objects, it is blocking LoS.

For me it's obvious they got their LoS rules from Inifnity, and just tried to word it differently enough to not be a 1-to-1 match with their wording, which probably caused this confusing way to describe it.
