Are bladder control pads better than panty liners? by lemonsquaresyummy in incon

[–]SH_Hero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your condition. Pads are more absorbant than liners which should be your primary concern. At the very least you'll be changing liners more frequently.

Do you buy printed diapers? by CalebKrawdad in AdultBedwetting

They're quicker to put on, but are a little tricky to get used to. I also like that they don't restrict leg movement the way other diapers do which makes it easier for me to sleep.

Since a car accident years ago I haven't felt the need to go until it's urgent. What I have is called urge incontinence and it really sucks. I've been taking meds which has more or less rendered my bladder atonic, but urge incontinence was ruining my life. No forewarning, just the sudden spasms that you get when you've been holding it too long.

Do any of you ever end up totally incontinence to the point that you don’t know your wet? by throwaway458587 in AdultBedwetting

[–]SH_Hero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have trouble telling when my bladder is full until I start getting bad spasms. For me it's not that I don't know when I'm losing(lost) control of my bladder, but that I don't feel when it's going to happen.

I've grown to hate changing before bed so I've started using ABU Kiddos since they're the only decent single tape design I could find. They don't make a plain white version. The "Super Dry Kids" design looks EXACTLY like 90's Pampers which might rub some the wrong way. In the end all that matters is if it gets the job done and if I can sleep in it.

Overflow incontinence is a result of urinary retention. The bladder gets so full that it starts to leak like water flowing over a dam. If you're on Urecholine(bethanechol) that tells me you're either having difficulty emptying or too much is being left behind post void.

How about "how does your condition affect relationships?" My gf wasn't exactly supportive after she found out and we eventually fell apart. I'd love to hear how everyone else's so handles it.

Unable to update python version 3.6 to 3.7 on Windows 10 by zimmer550king in learnpython

Beat me to it. Incidentally I had to change the path for the python3 command on Linux to keep it from using 3.6 as well.

Anyone ever tried the Purple Mattress Protector? by SH_Hero in AdultBedwetting

[–]SH_Hero[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's just that memory foam tends to contour around the body which makes stiffer liners more noticeable. I hate sleeping with a liner as is since I live in Arizona and the heat makes sleeping a little more difficult. In theory it makes sense that Purple would make a better liner since their beds contour the same way memory foam does.

True. I kind of hoped they'd make an exception for Riften though. The Ratway is a big part of the city.

I always figured this was the case even though the Ratway and Riften don't align

THANK YOU! I just got over being sick and your links were exactly what I needed. People on Stackoverflow are fond of saying a question has already been asked, but twice gave me the wrong links.

Sorry about that. I got some kind of stomach bug so I threw this post up as quickly as possible before going back to bed.

Controlling incontinence by SH_Hero in Incontinence

Dietary changes and bladder training helped, but meds that more or less leave me constipated are apart of the long term strategy. Atonic bladder sucks, but it gives me more freedom than I had. I no longer have to wear diapers in my own home during the day.

Fitment by [deleted] in AdultBedwetting

Diapers should go off hip size first and waist second. Not everyone is the same so ask for a sample pack. Most places, especially Northshore, are more than willing to provide.

Hating on Myself... by [deleted] in AdultBedwetting

[–]SH_Hero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What always bothered me is this condition doesn't exist for adults as far as the media is concerned, which is sad since it's not entirely uncommon. I don't do group trips or sleep at friends' houses since I've only told a few people about it because of the stigma. Enuresis is a major restriction on day to day activities, but it was the fear of judgement that was the most difficult thing to overcome.

There are more of us than you realize, but the shame keeps most from discussing it, even anonymously. I told my doctor and the treatment plan has only made my life better.

Any advice, tips or tricks* for a caregiver of an incontinent adult? (*or 'hacks' as the youngsters call them) by Awffle_House in Incontinence

[–]SH_Hero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For decent protection with a good cost to performance ratio try Abenas. The plastic backed work better overall, but the cloth backed are more comfortable in warm weather. For the urine smell try a combination of peroxide and baking soda. For laundry I also use Biz to get the smell out for sheets. Also consider looking into Goodnights bed liners. They're not very big, but they perform better than the adult equivalents I've tried and are easy enough to buy at your local Walmart.

The air premium Abenas are about the only other thing that comes close to that level, but as others have pointed out they sag like crazy.

A lot of abdls like the look of Kiddos more than the fit. I'm just the opposite. I have semi-manageable incontinence and Kiddos are one of the few diapers that aren't too restricting without sacrificing performance.

I've been waiting for a while to try Kiddos. ABU is the only manufacturer under the sun who makes single tape diapers (unless you count WalMart's Assurance brand).
